Black Snake climbing tree- Check. Bird house is about 12" tall as a reference. The Poplar tree being climbed is at least 60' tall. Tarzan the Snake went straight up it in about an hour. The woods are not safe if you are a bird egg.

In a van, down by the river.
Snake musk stinks, especially water snakes.
ESP, I have some picts like that too. I spent hours watching a black snake swim across our creek, up into a bush, then into the trees. It was there two days that I could see.

That could be a new record for a Black Rat snake, as the current record is 8'5".
I have never seen one over 6' long.

Had a family cookout at the MIL's today and measured width of her d/w to confirm. D/W is 9' and snake literally stretched almost the full width. Currently trying to find pictures from last year. Also, that was a one-time spot - not seen before, not seen after, and no sheds. I did however find a nest of young ones in area of sighting in late-September, 2019.

Records... are made to be broken. My dad ran over a black snake many years ago. It was on a dirt road. He didn't notice as we yelled look out. I was prob 10. Stopped. Snake head was crushed, as was tail. 1962 Chrysler 300. Specs say that car was a fraction under 80 inches wide.

Black Rat Snake. Not any danger to you.

This 1000%. I can't count how many of these I've pulled outta the road from getting run over. They usually do act pretty spastic but they are more afraid of you than you are of them I promise. Snakes are smart creatures. In the past I kept red tail Columbian boas and the best thing I can pass on is that they pick up a persons feelings very well. If your calm, they'll be calm. It doesn't translate to wild snakes all the time but you'd be suprised. Fear is a powerful thing but once you get over it you'll see things in a new light I promise
