I will hopefully be getting my C&R license in the next couple of weeks.

edit: MidwayUSA no longer offers any incentives or discounts to C&R licensees.

I was wondering though, what other tips you Maryland C&R holders might be able to share. For instance, do any local stores give discounts to C&R holders on C&R eligible items? Is there a Maryland C&R mailing list? (Or maybe this board is it!) Is there anything else I ought to know?

    Thanks in advance!

I have only bought rifles from the web . No discounts from ant local store that I went to . At the Guns shows I just get the look if you know what I mean . So I don't deal with those people .

As far as deals on C&R rifles go, some MD places might give a discount because it is so much less paperwork when you hand them the copy.

Apparently MD still makes C&R holders go through the background check and the 7 day wait when buying a regulated firearm within the state lines (but you can still buy one from out of state wihout all that), so there might not be a discount there.

Some MD dealers might give a discount because they know you collect and might be back for more.

As far as a mailing list, yeah I think this board could be a valuable resource for that. If we had anough C&R posters interested (and I have seen some already), then maybe we could get one of the mods to post a thread about it as a sticky in this forum.

As a matter of fact, Don if you are reading this, then I have a suggestion. Maybe this forum should be called the "C&R" forum instead, or maybe "Curio and Relics".

Thanks for the very comprehensive C&R list!

I’d like to add Wolff Gunsprings to the list. I contacted them today. They will accept a faxed copy of your FFL 03 and do offer a considerable discount to the trade. A great product line by some very good folks to deal with.

Thanks for letting me join the forum. I am not from Maryland but live in Tennessee. Most of the sellers on gunbroker.com will allow an emailed file (I use a PDF) for your license copy. as well as some of the dealers listed above. I have purchased from J&G CZ 52 &
CZ83 as well as AIM surplus CZ 83. both offered good quality guns but cosmetics were 50% better at AIM. I am at work if you want I will post pics when I get home. I haven't bought any long guns yet but but haven't had any issue with the chinese milled trigger SK that I purchased locally years ago.

Can anybody post the link in here to the place that explains how to fill out the C&R license application?

I know somebody posted it before in a thread but I can't find it. Thanks.

Ok, question for the C&R crowd:

My understanding is that when you get your C&R you are not obligated to record any firearms that you already have, C&R or not.

I also believe that I read that when you let your C&R expire that you must commit de-facto gun registration by sending the BATF your bound book.

If both of those are true, then if I choose to obtain a C&R and don't buy any firearms with it then I am not obligated to provide the BATF anything? Is that so?

Your bound book is for recording acquisitions and dispositions of C&R firearms after getting your C&R license. You may (optionally) enter into your bound book, C&R firearms acquired before getting your license, but it's not required. If you sell a C&R firearm that you bought prior to getting your C&R license, and use your C&R license to conduct the transaction, you would need to enter it into your logbook.

There is no requirement to send your bound book to the BATF after your license expires; in fact there is some debate as to whether or not you even need to retain your records for 20 years after your license expires. I read a letter posted on another forum (sorry can't find the link), written by a BATF official, that states C&R licensees are exempt from the 20-year recordkeeping requirement.

I'm gonna have to go to Staples and buy me a bound book... I got mine in the mail just the other day! By bound book, I assume they mean like a Marble Notebook

Bound book meaning pages in a binder (as opposed to loose sheets in a folder); you can print out this PDF on 3-hole paper, put the pages in a binder, and use it. I keep my license, receipts, log, and ATF publications all in the same 3" binder with pockets.
