You running an AR-15 or an AR-10? I have lapping tools for both and a DeWalt 20v Li-Ion cordless drill.

AR-15. I build enough to keep the tools around. The lapping tool is cheap enough and on the way. The BCM uppers are tight, and bent the cable on my old lapping tool. Got one without a cable attachment.

I have a cheap Chinese Harris clone, a couple Harris and a couple Atlas.

Chinese- cheap, works fine for rimfire, cheap.

Harris- does what it need to do, must add extra parts for ease of use on pan & tilt, quick deploy, very bouncy under recoil.

Atlas- solidly built, good pan & tilt tension controls, 3 leg angles with positive lock, much less bouncy than the Harris, good QD mounting on Picatinny rail, slower to deploy than Harris but the legs will not collapse under heavy recoil unless you literally break it. $$$.

I use the Harris on my .223s and it works okay, you really need to add the lever for the pan & tilt control, a bit bouncy when used on hard surfaces. I have had a leg fold up under heavy recoil.

I use the Atlas on my .308 and .338 precision rifles as the bounciness of the Harris is annoying. Not in everyone's budget though.

The new Magpul bipod looks amazing, to be sure. Might toss one on my M1A DMR-alike, since shooting that mofo in a non-supported position is such an SOB anyways.

Absolutely. Probably won’t get the rifle out for a couple of weeks. Lower built. Messed up my lapping tool, so waiting for Midway to ship another to finish the upper. Forend should be in this week. Scope leveling kit should be in this week.

I have a lapping tool you can borrow, not sure where you’re located. (I’m in the Columbia area)

I have a Harris on my AR10 and an Atlas on my Remington 700 sniper build. The Atlas will give you a very steady platform. The Harris is a good all around bipod for most folks. Be careful of the Harris and particularly the Atlas Chinese knockoffs. Both are junk. It's a gun part. With that said, I recommend buying the best you can afford. If you can only afford a $30 knockoff, then buy it. But if you can buy the real deal, by all means, spend the money. You won't be sorry.

    Good Luck!

    Bipods. So confused.

They are a two legged supports.

    From bi- +‎ -pod.
From Latin bis (“twice”) or Latin bīnus (“double”) + Ancient Greek ποδός (podós), genitive singular of πούς (poús, “foot, leg”).

The Magpul bipods are actually really, really good quality, especially for the price. IIRC, they're also compatible with Atlas-style feet.

Finally someone to clear that up for me. It only took 4 pages.

It's understandable you'd be confused given how many genders are claimed to exist these days.
