    1680 vs 5744 ?
Dealer at a gun show last week had both powders available and I told him I was happy with 5744 and he mentioned that the 1680 would not beat up the gun as much as 5744. Anyone have feedback on this, loading suppressed I would think they would both be a little ways from any pressures that could cause damage/ wear over time.

I've never used either myself, but I've heard good things about 1680.

1680 will run an AR that's having BHO or other function issues because it makes a lot of gas. This can be good and bad. I've run 5744 and it seems a touch quieter and has better ES/SD numbers than 1680. YMMV.

I have not run 5744 long enough to give any feedback, still have test loads to fire.

Finally got around to loading up some 300blk.

I figured for supers I would run 125gr hornady SSTs since they are pretty cheap.

Went out today in between the rain drops and seems by gun likes 17.2gr or 17.4gr of H110. I wasn't sure how this would shoot at 100 yards so I shot a 3 shot group at 50yards and then another at 100 yards since it shot ok.

Load is 125gr SSTs, LC brass cut down, CCI 41 primers and H110 powder COAL is 2.125

I'm going to nail down the powder chargers first and then play with seating depths, but it looks like it has potential.

I clearly pulled one of the 17.4gr loads, next time I will have a swivel stud so I can mount a bipod vs shooting off jeans filled with sand lol

What length barrel? Did you chrono any of the loads?

Wilson Combat HBAR 16inch match fluted stainless upper:

220gr SMK or Hornady OTM... Subsonic: 10gr H4198 (Hodgdon)

Completely reliable and same hole at 100 yards. Pretty unreliable past 100...

Functions flawlessly... However, I have found the gas port does need to be opened up slightly. I can find the exact specifications that MCP used if anyone is curious.

So I'm venturing into reloading 300 AAC Blackout. I was cruising through the thread and I didn't notice anyone using IMR4227? For my first batch I'm going to try 16gr of 4227 behind a 150gr Sierra HPBT (Match King) and CCI 41 primer with a 2.105 C.O.L. From what I gathered so far, this seems to be a common starting point...anyone here using 4227 in Blackout loads? I'm loading just for plinking at the moment but would like to work up to a decent degree of accuracy. What's your experience with 4227 and should I be looking at a different powder? I'm using a 16" barrel with carbine gas length...

I have had really good results using IMR 4227 for supersonic loads (110, 125 and 150 grain bullets)...very accurate out to 200 yards so far...18" wilson combat barrel with carbine gas length....set up as a DMR style rifle...

for subsonic.....not so good. ..still very accurate , but does not produce enough gas to cycle the action all the way...have been told by reputable source (Tomcat Ammo) that trying to use it for subsonic loads does not work....will be trying others soon to find a good subsonic load...

That is the powder I use 16.5 4227 over 150g Hornady fmj 3037

My dad buys Tomkat and his upper likes the Tomkat better. I never worked up a load so don't know what better I could get. 4227 was the easiest powder to get

I would look at W296/H110 and Lil' Gun. I've had decent results on loading 110-220gr bullets with the correct charge weights.

You should be able to find those powders relatively easily these days.
