    Get a Victory rat trap
Drill a hole in it and screw to tree high enough dogs and others can get at it.
    Bait with Peanut butter
Set trap without having your finger inside it!!
    Remove dead squirrels and reset.

I put PB out for deer and squirrels eat more than they do.

A landowner permit is needed to trap chipmunks, opossums, porcupines, rabbits, raccoons, skunks, tree squirrels and woodchucks in Maryland. This free permit can be obtained by calling the Maryland Nuisance Wildlife Hotline at 877-463-6497. Squirrels are considered small game in Maryland so if you want to shoot them you have to have a hunting license. The Squirrel season is Sept. 5–Feb. 27. Chances are you will not get caught, but it only takes one nosey neighbor to get you a large fine and your rifle taken away.

Really...? I've been doing wrong all these years. I only have one neighbor and they're cool.

I have been killing squirrels indiscriminately since I got my RWS 48 back in 1993. I recently got the model 54 in .22 and it is much more effective. I typically leave the racoons alone until they get into my trash cans. Squirrels however, have a special place in hell and they need to go there when the opportunity appears.

Yes, squirrels are game animals and are subject to some strict penalties for killing out of season, safety zone violations, licensing issues.

Metal duct tape and plastic split wire covers have kept my RVs gas lines protected from squirrels for over ten years after losing one the second summer. My wife and daughter feed them so we have plenty around.

Make sure it's not a groundhog if all the chewing is on the underside of the vehicle. Had my starter and 4 wheel drive taken out by a groundhog years ago on my secondary truck. he paid the price.
Chipmunks took up residence on top of my manifold on same vehicle and were not deterred by removing the nest, then decided to chew the seal on the garage door and come on it. persistence, but them two paid the price of a few pellets.
one mouse committed suicide in my wife's heater fan while the other came in and ate some funny blue stuff and died in the wall while another couple must have got overheated in the grill!
never had a rabbit do anything but burrow a little.

there are many ways to deal with critters that decide to not live in peace along side of you.

could be groundhog got one in back I have not gotten a shot at yet. I pulled into the driveway last week and saw him run for the woods from up near the house. did not know they would chew lines but I guess I should have thought of that.

the plastic split wire cover might deter them? I will definately try this... I bought some braided stainless hose covers, but was too small to fit over my AN fittings so could not get it installed.

Yeah could be a ground hog. They can chew through thin wire. Certainly insulation. I popped what I thought was my resident ground hog. Saw another in my neighbors yard two nights ago right before dark. Couldn’t get him though. Next time. Next time.

I've been feeding the foxes lately. I'm having trouble adjusting the trigger on my PCP and the damn thing goes off just as I come off the target and whamm. On two occasions a squirrel must have been just off the side of the target box. I probably couldn't have hit them if I was aiming for them.

Hose is wrapped with metal duct tape, then covered with plastic wire cover.

This was recommended to me by the RV dealer where I replaced the chewed up hose. I had original thought it was wear because it was where it went across a cross member. Tech pointed out the teeth marks.
