I've had a FLA permit for ~20 years, renewed a few times and received my latest renewal package in the mail. They are now asking for another set of Pics, prints, etc.. I can understand the pics, but more finger prints? Anyone else experience this?

FL non-resident renewals have always required a new set of ink prints on an FBI card done by a bona fide LEA, which is becoming more and more of a PITA as everyone goes digital.

Never made sense to me since they apparently take my word for it that I haven't committed a disqualifying crime since my last renewal, but hey, I might have had my fingerprints altered somehow, right?

Anyway... it's been that way at least since Charles Bronson was still signing the permits (which I still have tucked away in a drawer somewhere).

Supposedly finger prints for these permits are not stored. So they have to check finger prints every time to see if they match a crime since the last time they were run. Then they a tossed out and the process repeats the next time you apply for the next permit, be it Fl or another state that runs finger prints every time.

Not to hijack the thread, but had to share: Renewed on the 7th of Feb and then the world went south. Said to myself, Florida Department of Agriculture will be closed and mine will expire.

Just opening the mail (4/27), what a surprise, there is my new card, good through 5/7/2027

When was the original expiration date of expiring card?

Getting fingerprints the older I get has been a real hassle. Just this week Livescan could only read four of my ten fingers. FBI rejected. Seems this old guy had “old man hands.” Who’da thunk?

corn huskers oil or spray some windex on your hands and rub, then wipe it off. Believe it or not, it works. Spit will do too....but, thats gross for the next guy...
I have trouble with all the electronic readers. My skin is really dry.

I got my renewal letter and the next day the local sherrifs department decided to close access to anyone

I asked about getting my prints done and they said sure, after the pandemic!!

Idk exactly what’s gonna happen but I can only assume they , Florida. Will accept it late. But who knows

Not much I can do about it right now though

Knowing you belong to the oldFart's club, i understand why only 4 out of 10 worked, it is due to the recoil of ur G26.

All the best and stay safe!

Every retake I’ve had up to the latest used Corn Huskers. The last facility used Udderly Smooth. I tried to get CH at CVS, Walgreen’s and Walmart before my appointment. Nada. I hadn’t heard about Windex.

I got mine done at UMBC PD - yes to mask and temp check/verbal checklist. No appointment needed during regular business hours. Was in and out in about 20 minutes.

I needed to get fingerprints on an old fashioned paper fingerprint card for my FL CCW renewal and I made an appointment to go to the Frederick Sheriff's Office today. It is right next to the Frederick DMV office and I was in an out in 15 min. They asked me no questions as to why I needed the prints. They were very professional and well organized. It cost me $20 and was well worth the drive to Frederick. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs to be fingerprinted on paper cards.

I agree. I have gone there the last three Florida renewals and have always been satisfied. They are well organized, friendly and professional.
