Hey guys, I need an opinion.

I found a sweet deal on a Ruger SR9c across the line in PA.

The hitch being that it comes with 17 round mags.

The fellow in the LGS (PA) tells me that he does not think that a MD FFL will accept receipt of the gun without the mags. I offered to buy and receive the mags there on the spot, but he seems unwilling to check any further and I can't blame him, based on this mess we have here with the mag rule.

It is a PA store that is much closer than trekking downstate.

    Appreciate any feedback!

He's not breaking any MD or federal laws by handing you the mags on the spot and sending the gun to a MD FFL without mags.

he does not think that a MD FFL will accept receipt of the gun without the mags.

Did he ask your MD FFL or did he just decide he doesn't care for your business?

Why would a MD FFL care if the pistol has mags or not?

Lots of pistols are sold in MD without mags thanks to the 10 round mag limit.

    ^^

This - I think he is confused about rounds limit and thinks we can not ever buy a higher round mag. To be fair, this fellow is not the main FFL. He was out of the store that day. May try again next week.

If you're going back, get a letter or printed-out email from your MD FFL clearly saying that he will complete the transfer without mags.

Maybe the PA FFL concerned that when the box shows up at the MD FFL minus the mags, the MD FFL will refuse it because items are missing? Square it with both FFL's before the PA guy ships.

You can take the mags while you are in PA and send the gun to an FFL without mags. I can handle the transfer for you if you'd like.

    Thanks Vince!

If I can get the deal put back together next trip up, I will have the gun sent to you. Guess I will wear my Duffy's shirt just for good measure.
