    Dear Editor:

Nearly 70% of all Maryland concealed carry gun permits are issued to members of the law enforcement/security community. Nearly 30% are issued to business owners, leaving less than 2% of Maryland's permitted population, and less than 1/100th of its entire population to hold a permit!

Also Maryland, via the City of Baltimore, continues to have one of the highest state murder rates, per capita. Further crime statistics show that of those murders in MD, most are committed by African-American males between the ages of 19 and 24 years old, and are almost always drug-related.

Adding further to this issue is that of the firearms used to commit these murders almost always the weapons used are stolen, and are not those firearms purchased and used by law abiding citizens. Therefore, what this means is that because liberal Democrat lawmakers, in Annapolis, pander to minority voters, in Baltimore, your Second Amendment rights to personal protection have been taken away. Beginning this year, a new litany of anti-gun laws are being crafted to further erode your personal freedoms while the murder rate in Baltimore continues. Point being, this is NOT about public safety, or racial equality. If it were common sense would dictate eradicating the drug issue in Baltimore, instead of taking away YOUR personal rights and liberty. Instead this is about the furtherance of the anti-gun agenda, by liberal Democrat lawmakers.

What other liberties are you willing to continue to give up to them?
