It's become a much more acceptable aternative to the state run communes they call schools these days.
I know a Test Pilot who was homeschooled and at least 10 Naval Academy Grads who have been homeschooled.
My son is an udergrad at UMD with a 4.0 average majoring in Physics and was homeschooled.
Homeschoolers do well. It's not for everyone but it's an excellent way to ensure your children get a quality education.
On the flip side some homeschoolers don't do well. Parents need to ensure their children are being educated both at home and if they choose at the state run children factories. I've seen some homeschool failures as well but then again, failures exisit everywhere.

My wife homeschools our Daughter, using A Beca Academy out of Pensacola, Fl. Best thing we did was pull our daughter out of the Calvert County school system. And to think we moved to Calvert because the public schools were suppose to be so good. We quickly found out the opposite. If King's Christian Academy was closer we may have chosen that route but they use the same curriculum. While she is in the 7th grade homeschooling, she is at the level of a 10th grader in the public schools. Best decision we made, plus she does not have sick kids sneezing on her or have to use the filthy restrooms.

I wish we could homeschool, especially after the hellish year. I'll never forget how the school system treated my kids.

As the spouse of a career AA County educator, and literally one of the best elementary school teachers in the nation (that's not just a boast - there's plenty of actual data to back up that claim) I'd like to say that not all public school teachers are bad, although it has been interesting to see some of the stuff pushed in curriculum over the last decade or so. I'd also like to say that while this may not have happened universally, my wife absolutely maintained the rigor of a regular classroom - she kept the kids moving forward, held them accountable, kept the flow of the day going, and did an awesome job of adapting to the challenge of being able to be an effective educator through that platform.

Not all schools and not all teachers are bad.

Not all schools and not all teachers are bad.

But all schools and all teachers are subjected to the over site of extremely liberal leadership. That’s the problem.
Good for your wife though. She sounds like a terrific person.
