    Hi everyone,

    Been a reader on the site for a few years finally bit the bullet and registered. I'm a member on HKpro under the same username. New to the Damascus area so I am looking for a highly regarded FFL in the area. I am open to suggestions. Reading a bit about the 8 day release thing that would be a huge plus! I am an avid HK fan but I may try to diversify with a 1911 sometime down the road :P

    Welcome. I am also in Damascus. Over the years I have used the Gun Shack/Crosswinds in Mt. Airy, Engage Arms, Silver Spring and Glade Valley Sporting Goods, Frederick.
    For many of my transfers I have used the Gun shack. They are very nice people and their shop is truly a mom and pop place. Lately, however, I have gone elsewhere For a number of reasons. Number one is that they will charge you sales tax on a firearm that you have purchased on-line if the seller provides an invoice of the price that you have paid. They will not allow you to supply the required "Lawyer Lock". You must purchase it from them. In one instance they told my supplier that they could not ship a new firearm to Maryland without the fired shell case. The fact is that the firearm could not be shipped to them since they are not licensed. I had the gun shipped to Engage who is licensed to provide the fired shell. Engage is a class outfit. They are not cheap for transfers but they are professional and reliable. There are others that I have dealt with over the years that I would not recommend.
    I highly recommend IWLA in Damascus. I have been a member for five years and I can say that you will not find a better shooting environment anywhere. We have a 25yd open pistol range, 50 yd covered pistol range, 100 yd rifle range, shotgun: 5-stand, trap, skeet, airgun range, archery range and indoor air gun range. PM me if you want details.
