“Long Gun Qual License Dead”

From Deep Lurker:

“ I just spoke to delegate Kurt Andersen out on the bricks, and he told me that HJC just pulled the long gun qualification license out of the long gun bill, They are leaving in the requirement for private sellers to run a background check through an FFL”

This, in just the last hour. Thread title is in quotes to establish that this news is hearsay, but comes from a legislator.

Our Patriot Picket “We Will Not Comply” Squad has taken seats in the Senate gallery. We have split the crew to take seats on both sides of the chamber

We are also moving to the House side to give them our WWNC presence

That is welcome news. But they need to drop the waiting period and allow MSP to run the checks for private sellers. None of it should happen, but if I can at least go to a barracks and pay $10 and an hour of my time, fine.

That's good news! They still have no idea how to do this. They've already been told that FFL's can't run a NICS check for a private sale, apparently they don't listen too well. If MSP does it, it will be a total Cluster Foxtrot.

If MSP was involved it would take 7 days plus $10.

I was thinking the same after the testimony presented in the SJPC.

That's assuming that they're staffed well enough to handle all of the extra checks.
I would doubt that they are.

MSP cannot use NICS for private sales. Federal law prohibits that. If it goes through MSP it will go on a 77r.

They could always add a complete background check to the HQL process and forego 7 day waiting period.

Never understood 7 day waiting period after initial gun purchase. I’m heated and about to kill a person but it would be in bad taste to use an existing gun.
