My father gave this bayonet to me years ago. It was my grandfather’s. Dad probably told me why his father had it but I don’t recall the details. Google tells me that it may be a Japanese Type 30 Arisaka Bayonet. It’s been in my safe for years and for whatever reason I took it out to look it over this evening. I’ll give dad a call soon to ask for details. Just thought I’d share.

Blade looks sharpened- the one I have is more of a last ditch version and is sharpened too. Makes you think about the original user and what happened to them.

It would be nice to have a rifle from the same arsenal to go with that bayonet.
According to the chart there was only one series with one block of numbers assigned to them.
The bayonet is a nice one and very nice to have especially because of where your dad told you he got it from.
    Makes it even better.

Very nice Jinsen Type 30. One of the earlier ones from the arsenal being a bright blade with fullers. It would go very nicely with a Type 38 or Type 99 rifle!

I spoke to Dad this evening. Unfortunately he has no idea why his father had the bayonet. He (my grandfather) apparently did not see any combat but did spend time in Japan. Probably just a souvenir. Thanks for the replies and info.
