Heck yes! Most of us obey most of the laws most of the time, MOSTLY. I can't get a CC in Merryland, but do you think that prevents me from keeping myself safe when out and about...hell NO. And most of youns guys likely broke at least one law on the way to work today.
Get that matter resolved now to insure there's not a charge that's been overlooked and then move on and get ole Dad some protection.
