14" Barrel with VG6

I was looking at this BA 14" barrel

I have a VG6 Gamma 556EX muzzle brake

The description states "This VG6 GAMMA 556EX version is designed for 14.5" barrels to make 16.1" overall length with pinning"
So if I pin the VG6 to the 14" barrel it is under 16"? I am a bit confused since the VG6 is 2.21" long. I guess I don't understand OAL?

The barrel will be too short.

Its not that you don't understand OAL, its that you dont understand mechanics: The VG6 may be 2.21", but about .6" are threads, which will not add to the OAL when the VG6 is screwed on the barrel (the VG6 threads overlap the barrel threads). So: 14.5+2.21-.6 = 16.1" If you put this on a rifle with a stock, 14"+2.21-.6 = 5-10 years.

Back to looking at 14.5" barrels.

I would buy it but I have a 10" Giessele MK1 rail I want to use and wanted to have gas block completely inside the rail so I was looking at carbine length.

That 10" rail would be great on an AR pistol.

I was going to build a pistol but changed my mind. I shot a friends and really didn't like it as much everyone else. Maybe since I already have a sbr. Also this is going on my pre 2013 lower.
