Beetlejuice said, "Americans who own AR-15s and AK-47s will have to sell their assault weapons. All of them."

Of course what he means is that after you've spent money to buy them originally, you'll have to spend more of your own money on the taxes he'll use to "buy" them "back." Of course, that will come out of federal discretionary spending, which means only from income tax, which means those taxes will only be paid by half the country.

And of course NONE of that will take one out of the hands of a criminal. Meanwhile, people who want to kill others will do like the guy in China just did yesterday, killing eight poor kids. I've got a hundred bucks that says he didn't go to a Chinese gun show and pick up an AK15 Weapon Of War With Bayonette Mount and Infinite Glockazine. Given the pattern there, more likely a chef's knife. Beto can help us out with cutlery, next.

So best to do nothing. No ideas, no reasoned thought. Just concepts, conjecture and, of course, no counter proposal. Just "no" to everything while mocking people who are trying something at these times. We'll lose this gentlemen and it'll be because we stood on the sidelines, arms crossed, instead of participating in a discussion and trying to be productive.

With all due respect, I believe that your premise is false (although I'm guessing at your meaning since it is hard to tell based on the lack of proper punctuation in the statement above). The anti-2A forces in this country are NOT INTERESTED in discussion. They are interested in confiscation. Every "common sense" measure is followed up with more stringent "common sense" measures, and most of us realize that this will not stop, until the law-abiding population of this country is completely and utterly disarmed.

There have been many proposals from our side, and all have been dismissed:

Enforce stringent penalties on repeat violent offenders.
Increased police presence in high-drug and gang areas.
    Offer school-based gun safety programs.
Arm teachers or trained volunteers in the class-room.
Allow self-defense as a good-and-substantial reason for a carry permit.
Build a wall to control the flow of contraband and criminal gangs.

These are all focused on reducing gun violence and crime, but the left rejects them out of hand because they do not advance their true agenda... disarmament of the law abiding.

Because it's a day that ends in "y" guns need to be banned.

    Says Beto O Rourke:

We dont know anything, but surely banning stuff is the solution!!! Also look at me please I'm running for President with 20 other candidates!!

    https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/459543-democrats-call-for-action-after-texas-mass-shooting

One thing I agree with, its ****ed up. We should not have to live with the fear and horror... that one of the socialists at the top of the Dem ticket will be President.

My only thought on all of this is that we absolutely must keep a republican in office for 2020. If voting for Trump over another republican candidate means greater chance of a republican win, then so be it.

Bingo. I would add that our side has advocated for full reporting to the NICS system as well.

    GUN CONTROL VS AUTOMOBILES

    Dear Mr. President,
With Gun Control a hot issue right now, I think we should go against the anti-gun propaganda with equal force. Here is a suggestion:

With over 40,000 deaths per year in the United States, we want background checks, too!
Children, teens, and adults are being killed at an alarming rate. Those responsible are either intoxicated, under the influence, criminals, felons, illegal, distracted, tired, or made a mistake.
Without any Constitutional Right, drivers of automobiles are wreaking havoc across the United States of America! It is time that Bloomberg, Mothers Demand Action, and other rights organizations address the real problems facing our society.

Has anyone suggested to Beto-male that he collect all the evil assault weapons himself? Starting in Texas, of course.

No, Reagan signed gun control as a CA governator long before he was senile. I believe it was the sight of black people with guns that made him nervous. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mulford_Act. The reality is that more than a few of these limousine liberals like Bloomberg believe a certain demographic are somehow less than equal and cannot control their impulses around weapons. They don't deserve complete freedom and equality, same as it ever was.

OK we were talking about 1994 assault rifle ban and the ******** claim about Reagan supporting it when in fact he was senile and that was Nancy.
divert to mulford act from the 1960s.

If you are going to go back over 50 years, to the gubernatorial period when he signed a bill with an already recorded vote veto proof majority anyway -- a vast majority of Republicans in California supported that bill when Reagan was governor.

And it was not targeted at "black people", but black panthers -- which had become deeply involved in organized crime at its leadership and rank and file levels. If you have a gang committing felony level extortion, drug running and pimping, and using California open carry law to have its few members who did not have criminal records open carry in support of criminal enterprises.

Reagan supported an assault weapons ban and was shot by a .22 revolver.
    There's some irony.

google is your friend, I am not.
Reagan also signed the Hughes Amendment.

People have fond memories of a President that never really existed. Most Republicans in the 80s, including Trump, were for the assault weapons bans and background checks (and even waiting periods).

My fondest memories of Reagan were not so much from the substance of the laws that came forth through the Tip O'Neill House and mixed-control Senate over his 8 years, but rather they were of his leadership, speeches, and vision for America that he so perfectly conveyed to the American public and abroad. The man was born to be President. He was the rejuvenating breath of fresh air that we needed after Jimmy Carter. I tear up often when I watch old speeches of his. Thank God for Ronald Wilson Reagan!

That said, he was less a friend of the 2A than one would expect based on his speeches, given the FOPA that he signed and the AWB that he later advocated for when he was degrading from Alzheimer's.

Still, I'd take him again and again over Johnson, Nixon, Carter, Bush, Clinton, Bush, and Obama any day of the week. I'm still forming my opinion about Trump, but right now they both are neck and neck. Trump signs too much spending for my taste, and he needs to stay the $%*@ off of Twitter!

Agreed. No President in modern history spoke to the American people with such a love for the country he was elected to run. He believed in the American dream. I've been fortunate to know an individual who was in Reagan's inner circle and worked on several of his campaigns. Fascinating stories.

Ronnie was a great motivational speaker when it was needed. And did some good. Yep. After viet nam, watergate and carter, Iran hostages, and the 70’s in general, he was needed for his personality and charisma. He did give people a morale boost.

His gun stance over the years wasn’t so good. Cali is still paying for that.

More importantly his attempt to have a big heart, particularly on immigration was/is the cause of the immigration issues today.

Watching him sign the ‘86 amnesty bill, and promising to close the border for future illegals, it was amazing how out of touch he was. The great pardoned.

He even paid respects to, of all people, chuckie Schumer at the signing ceremony. The video is available on line, iirc at the Reagan library web site.
