I just got a new Savage 10ml-ii muzzleloader for deer hunting I am having a heck of a time finding powder for it locally. I was able to pick up some IMR 4756 which was one of the original powders it was tested with. However, I can't seem to find any load date. So, I was hoping someone on MDshooters had tried it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Your Savage was designed for IMR 4759.

IMR 4756 is a magnum shotgun powder.

Any number of powders used for original black powder rimmed cartridge guns (45-70 Government, 30-40 Krag, 32 Winchester Special, etc.) will work for you.

I shoot BENCHMARK in my modern muzzleloader because it has a lot of volume. Hornady XTP 40 caliber-180 grain hollow point pistol bullet does a nice job on Bambi.

Buy a reloading book and do your own homework for load data. A 209 primer is a must have also.

    Hope it helped.

Thanks for the info. My challenge has been finding powder (n110, sr 4579,...) that the blogs and web pages list starting loads for in this area. BassPro and Clydes are out. Continental has some but can't sell it because their license is not currently valid to sell it. I was able to find the sr 4756 and some 4227. I see some.load data for the 4227 but it is supposed to have ignition problems.

Stuff a hundred grains of Triple Seven powder in it and be done with it.

    It all goes BOOM.

Kind of late in the season to worry too much about it.

    Have a CVA for that.
After searching for months, i finally found the savage 2 weeks ago at Winks in Princess Anne when I was hunting at a friend's place. Wink gave me 20 tubes of pre measured 4759 with the rifle but he did not have any more. So after I sight it in etc...I'm going to be sol for the the muzzleloader season.
