    Hi All,

Was a member years ago but the account was linked to an old work email. Hello to all the new folks and glad to see some of the elders are still around.

Mainly lurk but appreciate all of the great information.

    Welcome!

Grew up in Jarrettsville and lived just past the elementary school. I can remember when the ballfields were cornfields.

Its a great area and we love it here. Three of my kids go to the elementary school (well should be but that's a discussion for another thread) and play on those very ball fields.

It is a nice area, but a lot has changed over the years. Have you figured out where the old Jarrettsville Elementary School is?

Not sure I understand what you mean; so I guess that means, no I have not. Is it within the current structure?

Just a little history of the town. The brick building to right of Jarrettsville Federal (now taken over by Jarrrett. Fed.) was the old elementary school from long ago.

And the vacant 3 story building across from the Funeral Home was at one time a casket factory

Interesting stuff. I've lived in the general area all my life and never knew any of that. Wish they'd teach more local history in schools.

The Jarrett family home (town's namesake) was located on the corner where the 7-11 is. Sad day when that piece of the town's history was torn down. Many people believed it was haunted.
