Went around shopping for a carbine length DelTon; found one at a LGS for around $850 with mlok free float handguards. That seems pretty steep to me but I’ve been out of the AR market for a while. Seeing what you all think.

For some reason I thought above 800 was FN, Daniel Defense, and Colt ‘s region or am I underestimating DelTon’s ?

I have experience with Del-ton. Good quality, tight tolerances, every bit as good as Colt....

Thing is though, you pay for the prancing pony and the 170 years they have been (mostly) in business. Del-ton doesn't have that kinda cache and never will.

    COVID pricing.

There was a run on ALL firearms about 8 weeks ago.

So prices went up. If you can wait, should be better prices in a few months

Thank you! I have no experience with them, only Wyndhams and Rugers. Appreciate the knowledge.

Yeah I had a feeling that was the case. I was setting aside cash originally to pick up one of the Rugers that keeps going on sale but they’ve disappeared into the wind. I don’t mind the price if it’s in the neighborhood but didn’t know if DelTon called for a price around that area of if they should be closer to Anderson’s and PSA stuff.

If you're willing to assemble and have a lower, you can order a rifle kit direct from Del-Ton in the range of $400-500. I built my first AR this way and it was a great rifle. Shot MOA and was very reliable.

It will never have that kinda cache because you're simply not going to get a quality AR15 together for $500.

Colt uses excellent components and has consistent QC. That's what you're paying for. Yeah...they are over inflated now because they aren't readily available. I'm not encouraged that will last forever though.

OP...now just isn't a good time to buy. Prices are ridiculous all around. You should not be paying more than $500 for a Del-Ton. OPs on this forum had them under that within the last year. Colt is going to be ridiculous because they just aren't readily available. I'll tell you a friend bought a slightly used (no sign of wear) 6721 from an IP for $700. That was 6 months ago.

Everyone says prices won't come down. They will. When things die down you'll see pawn shops and consignment shops fully stocked and cheap.

Yeah I think you’re right and it’s a case of crappy timing

Seems a bit high for a Delton. Had a problem with a Delton lower parts kit a few years ago. The back sear on the hammer was not cut right and it would fire 2-3 rounds every time I pulled the trigger. Kind of a good problem to have but not exactly legal.Got a replacement from delton and its fine now. I also have a delton complete upper and it runs flawlessly.

I have a DelTon Ar 15 that I brought from an IP here and I never had any trouble with it. When Rugers AR-15 were on sale in the $475 to $500 range I thought about getting one but in the end i just stuck with my Delton Ar and never looked back. I did put a Ruger Scop on top tho..

I wouldn't buy a Colt for a nickel today. They have screwed the American public on numerous occasions and they don't deserve our patronage. Places like Barret, LaRue, CMMG, and others are the ones that need our support as they have stood up to the anti gunners and not caved like Colt.

That's great and all but we're just saying that comparing a Colt to Del-Ton doesn't make sense. They are not in the same league from a quality standpoint.

I guess I should clarify, I had experience with a Del-ton matched upper and lower, but everything else was not made or sourced from Del-ton (in fact I think most of the small parts were Colt)

DTs are like a tier 3 AR (which isn't bad, I'd put PSA at tier 4). It's about $250-$350 overpriced, but if it's an HBAR and you can walk out with it tomorrow, I guess it's not a bad price. I disagree that prices are going to definitely go down in the near future; I think there's a fairish chance of a Biden presidency and the GOP having trouble retaining the Senate. That's not an automatic AWB, but it's a lot of risk you may to insure.

Yeah, it’s tough a call. Definitely high in cost but no way to know how prices / November will go. I think it’s 60/40 all depending on how summer shakes out; either way uncertainty has never been good for lowering prices.

I’ve found some nice FN’s out there but I’m not big on rifle length over carbine and they’re about 2-4 hundred more in price than even the overpriced DelTons.

I got mine for just under $600 last fall

Yeah I’m kicking myself for not getting into the market sooner. Spent fall re-saving after having both cars go down months apart. Watching to see if any IP’s get any new stock in.

Local pawnshop is in full gouge mode so no high hopes on prices getting lower anytime soon.
