    they are the polish ones

that doesn't answer the question, dingus. I don't spend my days scouring the internet for all things AK anymore...are the extractor cuts there? are the journals turned for RSB/GB/FSB? are they threaded?

If it's the same Radom barrel I bought, then it needs to be threaded, gas port drilled.

Extractor cut and journals are already done, to the best of my limited knowledge.

threading by a gunsmith is pretty simple and provided the right smith, relatively inexpensive. hell, you could get the TAT and die and thread pretty easily yourself. (I wouldn't use a can though with that method)

Populating the barrel is extremely easy for anyone on this board, given the number of people dispersed throughout the state with the tooling to do so. gas port can be drilled very easily indeed. if you need a 90*, one can always just purchase a spare 90* block, lop off the top portion to access the port, locate the kit block on the barrel, press it off, install the new drilling jig, and go to town. ak-builder drill bit isn't too expensive for that, so with the right 90* gas block, it wouldn't be expensive to make the jig out of one.

I'm undecided on the threading, a sporter contour just looks idiotic though (IMO).

Finally got some days off this week, so trying to get this kit fully de-milled and tie up all the loose ends on the receiver. Already bent, but haven't drilled it yet - don't trust the template/dimensions I got offline.

I have one of the Childers layout templates for the Hungarian Underfolder, but would highly recommend using the actual trunnions in lieu of a template to locate the holes since they need to line up perfectly.

That sucks that Robert Forbus is no longer threading barrels, he does great work with very reasonable prices ($20 per barrel and can ready). Can't beat that price for turn down, threading, and AKM profile reverse fillet cut on the chamber edge.
Glad I got my barrels completed before he halted work on these.
These polish FB barrels hands down are probably the best commercially available AK barrels on the market.

If suppressor ready isn't a necessity, you could always just use a threaded FSB from Russia or Bulgaria or Yugoslavia (or a US made equivalent). Even easier than threading the barrel. Of course if you're having it threaded by a smith, it'll be concentric so there's always that.

Guess the barrel may need to go off to a 'smith then.

Hadn't intended to suppress, but it is nice to have concentric threads - to have the option.

This is true. The 12.5" SBR I'm working on will already require a cut-down barrel, so I might as well just have it threaded concentric while doing so.

AK-Builder currently has the Radom barrels - turned and threaded.

Finally got my kit fully demilled last night, that was 'interesting'. I must've gotten exceptionally lucky, because my kit looks like it spent more time in a rack than anywhere else. Almost no signs of usage on the wood, fcg, carrier.

**Getting there, the end is in sight.

Finally getting around to working on the flat bent back in 2013. Riveted the trunnion at the build party what, 2 years ago? Sheesh.

Did the rosette-weld thing, as I lack a spot welder. The left side warped slightly due to welding heat ... but in the tradition of the glorious rifle of the people, I used a crow bar to do the detailed straightening. Everything cycles nicely by hand.

My 3rd attempt at chopping down a gas tube for my build.

The vented ones don't react well to chopping and trying to flare, apparently... :innocent0

**Just found an unused, non-threaded .50Beo muzzle brake - it has the perfect I.D. to keep me from over-flaring the soon to be chopped gas tube. This time it may just work....

(I could just use the bare amd65 tube, but I want to keep the wood hand guards.)

Any updates on the late summer build party? Had a great time and learned a lot during the last two.

My little half-baked engineering paid off. Chopped, flared - just need to clean it up and it's ready for install/touch-up.

Still going to see if I can get this one finished up ahead of schedule. Still have plenty of work to do though.

    Improvise, Adapt, Overcome.

Although I get to do it all over again. My dumbass forgot: "Measure twice, cut once" - so I chopped the tube about 1/4" too short. :banghead:

5th time has got to be the charm...

So close to being done. At least I know the light at the end of the tunnel isn't actually a train about to run my ass over.

Still have a few more things to wrap up, but we're finally on the home stretch. I'm going to have to start escaping MD to acquire more standard capacity mags...
