With my UT permit, can I CCW at Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge?

I'm pretty sure the Federal bill went through permitting CCW in national parks if your permit is valid in the host state. I just want to make sure before I assume I know what the law is and not spend our vacation in jail.

I'm looking for something official from VA's governments website to print out in case I get a park ranger who doesn't know my rights. A link to that would be much appreciated.

I did last year with my VA non res. I spent days looking. You are ok, just not in the facilities.

"the law allows an individual to lawfully possess a firearm within the boundaries of a National Wildlife Refuge in accordance with federal, state and local firearms laws"

"While possession on a refuge may generally be allowed under state law, possession of firearms will remain prohibited in Federal facilities. Examples include: visitor centers, refuge administrative office buildings, refuge maintenance offices and workshops, field and backcountry offices, ranger stations and fee collection stations."

The visitor center was posted with the "no weapons in federal building". But the porta-potties were not. lol not sure if they are a "federal facility"

Are you talking about the visitor center on the left on the way to the beach? I have been in there several times and never saw, or never thought to look for a "no weapons" sign.

The law defines Federal facilities as being "regularly occupied" by Federal employees. Bathrooms don't qualify. Outside bathrooms are fine

    IANAL

technically, one could argue, the port-a-potties could be regularly occupied by federal employees.

"could be" is not the same as "are"

Porta potties are fine. even outside bathrooms are ok. Many bathrooms are cleaned by contract workers anyway. they are not federal employees.

You can go into a restaurant run by a concessionaire for the same reason. Not regularly occupied by FEDERAL EMPLOYEES therefore legal to enter.
