    The dust cover is too skinny for the front ring at the bottom of the slide. You could widen the channel for it and the larger recoil spring assembly.

    Yeah, this isn't a good idea, even if it's possible. You will need to mill out significant portions of the frame freestyle, and even just milling out the PF940SC for the gen4-esque recoil spring is a bit of a nail biter.
     
    Poly80s are designed for gen 3 and because Glock still holds patents for gen 4 and 5 there will not be one available for the foreseeable future. If it's just the aesthetics you're looking for there is a company that makes an after market gen 3 slide that looks like the gen 5 slide. Google it

    The patent listed on Gen 4s is for the modular backstrap lugs and another is for the backstraps. The size of the ring at the front of the slide is not patented.
