I finally got my birthday present to myself last month out to the range for the first time yesterday. It's a brand new Polish Tantal AK-74. What a blast to shoot. I love the 5.45x39mm round (I especially love the cost of the ammo). Anyhow, it shot very well at 50 yards and ok at 100. About what is usually expected out of most AK variants. Of course, not a single fail to fire or jam. A real pleasure to shoot. Here's a couple photos after I got it back home and cleaned up...

Where did you get it and how much. I think my other AK's might need a brother soon. Thats a good looking rifle.

I kick myself every time I buy ammo for my 5.56/.223 AK. Why did I listen to the salesman at Atlantic Guns?

"5.45x39 is expensive and hard to find..."

1080-round tin for $109 at the Chantilly show... "Canned Heat" .223 Remington 55gr Full Metal Jacket 1000pk - $320.... :banghead:

It hurts now. But wait for 5.45x39 to dry up and see what happens.

    Option #2?
Buy another AK in 5.45x39! :D

If I decide to join in on the AK build, I'll definitely build an AK-74S clone in 5.45x39. I don't think I'd be able to find an AKS-74u parts kit and be able to afford the SBR stamp, etc.

Also, I don't think 5.45x39mm is going to dry up any time soon. It's Russia's caliber of choice right now for infantry weapons, AFAIK.
