    and yet there are numerous people posting on the article who simply can't understand the role of a firearm in self defense. It's nothing short of bizarre. They think it's anecdotal or an aberration.

    I must have posted this a thousand times:

    The Bureau of Justice reports 338,700 incidents of defensive gun incidents between 2007 and 2011 or roughly 67,740 times a year. That's nearly 200 time a day that guns save lives and protect property.

    Nice link to that data, Kashmir. Several charts, stats, descriptions sure do present the facts regarding the numbers, distribution and trends about gun crimes.
    The source is hardly liberal or conservative, redneck vs gun banner but the US Dept of Justice stats.
