Like many, I'm planning to upgrade my M&P 9 trigger to an Apex unit. But in the meantime, I have one other small issue with the M&P: my hands. I have small hands, and hitting the mag release, especially during quick exchanges, forces me to loosen my grip in order to hit the release.

Enter the Catalyst Extended Mag Release.

This is their Mod 1 version which more closely matches the M&P texture and fits better in holsters for EDC.

Just practicing with a dry fire today, it is much easier to release the magazine and without releasing my grip on the pistol. I haven't tried it in a holster yet, hopefully next wee. When I do I'll give an update, but my initial impressions are very positive., and it was only $30.

I just flipped it to the other side and trip it with my trigger finger personally. My hands aren't large either.

But it's nice to see more options coming down the pipeline.

I have the same problem. I reversed the mag releases on both my M&Ps and use my trigger finger to drop the mags. I might look into this extended release, but is there any chance of the magazine being inadvertently dropped when the gun is holstered?

Guess it'd depend on the holster.

Looking at my Safariland 6378, there appears to be PLENTY of clearance for a extended mag release.

    YMMV by holster.
