Generation1 and 2 Pmags work with the gun , but some do not drop free.

Everything else in terms of STANAG mags do work, except for Drums.

Canadian Tavor owners reported that P-mags or any other plastic mag will have to be checked out to make sure that they do not push up on the bolt hold and cause that part to drag with the reciprocating bolt.

To check IF this is happening, simply dismantle the mag. Insert the gutted out mag body into the magwell while you hold the charging handle all the way to the rear of the rifle until it bottoms out. look into the ejection port and check if the mag is pushing on the bolt hold and causing drag.

If it does. Simply take a file and file down the notch on the rear of the mag until you get a rectangular profile similar to that of a USGI mag. It is a simple modification that a manicure technician can do with blindfolds.

See picture below. ( stole it from a Canadian site)

Left: USGI mag , note the rectagular profile of the notch
Middle: Modified Pmag, done by filing down the rounded areas
Right: Unmodified mag- areas to be filed highlighted

another optic I'm considering is the Redfield counterstrike red dot / Laser combo

the height looks okay to provide a co- witness set-up, the visible laser is sits right on top of the barrel and battery life is decent.

This site will not work well for ARs with standatd fron sights. The laser gets obstructed... DUH! but it seem to be a good poor mans version of the ITL MARS.

at $179.00 it may be a fun range optic.

Okay... Since the Tavor is new to most of us. What is the most ideal range to zero the rifle?

The Military has taught me to zero at 25 meters, experience shows that 50 yard for an AR is much better. But this applies to an AR. How about a Tavor?

taking into consideration the height if the Iron sights in relation to the bore ( about 1.5"). Ballistics will have to be caluculated factoring that in.

    So for me:

I Zeroed the TAVOR at 75 yards. This allows me to use point of aim and deliver my rounds at ranges between 50-175 yards with deviation from Point of aim of less than 1".
No holdovers, no BDC adjustments.. just aim and shoot. ( based on 55grain WWB , FMJ)

Erwos. Is 33 the bzo for the Tavor?

    I only tried 25,50 and 75

    At 75...it hits 1.5 low at 25
    .20 low at 50
    Zeroes at 75 and 100

    And .7 high at 125-150

    Then zeroes at 175.

How does the 33 yard zero compare?

Oh, I meant for AR-15s, apologies. You're correct in that it's going to be different on the Tavor due to the difference in how high the sights are over the bore.

FWIW, I just zero'd mine at 50 and called it a day.

Try the 75 yard zero. I think you will find it superior. As the 50 yard zero hits high at 100.
