Somebody had one of these at the club the other day and let me try a few mags out.
Anyway, I was surprised at how well it shot and thought it was pretty decent.
I think if I ran across one I would probably pick it up if I could.
Maybe this has been discussed on here before but I never seen one until the other day.

I have an ATI 1911 and a GSG .22 conversion threaded barrel, slide, slide stop, and mags. It’s a good shooter and supressor host and a lot cheaper than .45 to shoot. Never had an issue with it. Get one in .22 or a conversion kit.

I have eyeballed the 85% Browning one many times when they had it in the glass counter at Basspro

I wonder why Palmetto would sell the Blue Line when ATI is right down the street from them. I had to send my GSG 1911 back to them when I first got it and they are located within a mile or so of one of the Palmetto stores.

Stupid question (My first of the day...):
Does any semi-auto .22 handgun perform consistently well enough (feeding and
    ejecting) to be worth having?

There’s another out here right now about
.22’s as self-defense. To me, that’s a good discussion that ties into this.
For example, assuming you’re OK with the
light round, is any .22 semi reliable enough
to bet hot a life on? Or, is it easier just to stick with a wheel gun, if you’re married to .22?

If that line of thought is too far afield
from this discussion, then sorry, please
    disregard.
I just haven’t had my coffee yet...

    Worth Having ? Yes !

Suitable for SD ? Whole plethora of Caveats

    * For the Record * I do NOT advocate or advise .22lr handguns for SD , if you're mugged while squirrel hunting that's one thing and you do what you have to with what's in your hand already, but not for SD on purpose .

In very broad strokes , they are three catagories of .22lr pistol : Intended for SD , typically mini and micro pistols , " replica/ understudy " pistols to duplicate a centerfire pistol , but in rimfire for cheap practice/ training , and full size purpose built pistols for plinking/ hunting/ target shooting . Sometimes the second catagory are sufficiently accurate and reliable to also fill the third role . ( My .22lr 1911 does for me , YMMV .)

As a class , most of the full size plink/ hunt/ target pistols are more accurate and reliable than the mini's , and the 4- 6in bbls will give more velocity than mini's ( but the difference isn't as great as with .22WMR ).

Of course the flipside is that a Buckmark , Woodsman , Mark I, II, III , etc will be of similar size and weight to carry as would a " Real " centerfire of suitable calibre .

I have a Colt Government Model with a Colt Conversion Unit on it. I fitted a NM bushing. It is 99.99% reliable and accurate enough to shoot Bullseye without embarrassing myself.

Most 22 pistols are going to be reliable. It's the ammo that would most likely cause a problem. Rimfire is not as reliable as centerfire. But for plinking and range use, 22 pistols are a lot of fun.

What I noticed was, that the mags were cast very heavy and over engineered I presume to add weight.
Front site blade was attached to the slide with an allen screw that allowed the blade to be easily changed.
I seem to remember there were more than two in the foam lined box.
Mags also had to be inserted to allow the slide to travel to battery.
There were a number of plastic components that comprised the rear of the grip and beaver-tail.
Grips were wooden and checkered for positive grip. Barrel was threaded.
Owner said it was impulse purchase from GB and he paid minimum bid.
It put them right where you held very time if you did your part at the 25 yd butts.

My Ruger SR22 is not reliable when shooting subsonic .22 ammo with a suppressor. The GSG conversion has been completely reliable under the same circumstances.

.22lr Replica\ Understudy versions of centerfire pistols are hit and miss at also being competent pistols in their own rights .

My Umarex mfg .22lr 1911 stands on its own.

I've seen near universal praise for S&W .22lr M&P Compact . The compact specifically . The full size version is an import , the Compact is made by S&W in the U.S. .

My SIG Trailside is very reliable and still sold as the Xessse. I'm told it is the poor man's Hamerli.

I have a Sig Trailside too...incredibly reliable even after thousands and thousands of rounds shooting Bullseye matches and practice. With Eley or CCI Standard Velocity it will easily put every shot in the X ring at 50 yards from a machine rest.

For those that prefer a .22 conversion for a 1911, highly recommend the Marvel Precision Type 1 or the Nelson Custom conversion. These will also hold the X ring at 50 yards.

S&W M&P COMPACT ( full size is a different platform) has been the most reliable .22 auto I have owned bar none. I have owned some of the best .22 autos and this one takes the cake for reliablitiy. I am going on my into my third thousand rounds through this gun and I have never had a malfunction, not one. Every .22 auto usually has mag hickups, not this one. I own six magazines and you can't tell one from the other.

The only thing I did to this pistol is stone the sears for better let off and that was it. I highly endorse it.

All of my .22 pistols work fine.

With the caveat that the Sig Mosquito ONLY works with CCI MiniMags.
