Just got done scoping this one. Of course the purists on some sites cringe at the thought of this, but heck I just couldn't resist. Now I have a new toy that I can take to the range or out in the woods and enjoy it. This one I bought about a year ago, it had nice markings, a real super bore and a smaller than normal import mark (Gibbs Rifle Company Martinsburg WV). This time I used Max Shepard for the bolt bending, and was really happy with his work.

Very nice job! The bolt, mounting and stock work all look great to me. Of course like you I'm not a purist and I'd rather play with my toys. Are the scope and mount repros?

That was my thought, during its' active military life it had a scope on it, eventually it wasn't needed anymore as a sniper, so the Soviets made it a regular rifle then stuck it in a crate for use in WW3, I just restored it to its' original configuration.

Damn, I'm torn about that. On one hand, it's a Finn... On the other hand, it's probably accurate enough to justify the scope...

Agreed. I always wanted a scoped mosin, but I refused to mount a scope. Im a purist like that. When I saw this at auction I said thats the gun for me, M39 plus someone already else bubbed it si I didnt commit a sin.
