Can not decide on what caliber I want to do for my first snowflake lower. 6.5 Grendel or 6.8 . Why ? Seems the 6.5 has better stats

If you select Other say which caliber :)

    .50 Beo

Because what wouldn't melt down some anti snowflake faster. "He has an evil assault rifle, in 50!!"

**In practical terms though, 6.5G would probably be a solid choice. Been seeing 20" uppers in 6.5G being blown out for less than 3 bills in the past few weeks.

6.5 over 6.8 for me. I am a "distance" guy, so that's my driver. It has less drift, but not by a bunch. Another slight advantage of the 6.5 is cost. Factory loads are much cheaper.

.224 Valkyrie certainly looks more interesting than .22 Nosler. .22 Nosler seems
Interesting, but the numbers I’ve seen, at least Nosler factory loadings a 77gr out of an 18” Barrel only had like 150FPS on a 5.56 77gr out of a 20” Barrel. A know slightly apples to oranges on Barrel length, but having to chamber an entirely new cartridge to get 10% more energy and 5% more velocity kind of sucks. Not sure how hot .22 Nosler could be loaded.

.224 Valkyrie seems to be loading, what is that, a 90gr .224 bullet to about 100fps faster than a 77gr .224 out of a .223/5.56 chambered rifle. Now THAT seems worthwhile.

My 2 cents if sticking with something somewhat tried and true is go 6.5 Grendel. I prefer long range and ammo and some other stuff seems slightly more common for 6.5 than 6.8 SPC. I also like a bolt gun to go with my semi. I’ve yet to see a 6.8 SPC bolt gun. They might exist and I haven’t seen them though. A fair number of 6.5 bolt guns. A 20-24” 6.5 Grendel bolt gun to go with a 16-18” 6.5 AR-15 seems like a nice combo to me.

What I am personally building (18” 6.5 Grendel AR15 for deer hunting and then looking at a 22” Howa barreled action in 6.5)

50 with a bump stock and binary trigger. Oh and it needs to be a SBR.

I've got 2 out of those 3 options covered. I just got the Vortex Strikefire II scope for the build, so I am now ready to hit the range. The rifle is now complete. :D

I don't usually post pictures of my firearms, but here's my newly built 50 Beowulf SBR.
