Got my PA non-resident permit last year, so I'm good to go. Tried to get the permit in Chambersburg, but the Franklin County Sheriff will not issue permits to non-residents. Went to the Sheriff's office in Gettysburg and had no problem.

On May 16, PA will stop recognizing all VA permits. I'd check with the issuing Sheriff to make sure your PA NR permit isn't revoked.

It shouldn't but these legislators are slimeballs.

PA should still issue NR permits on your VA permit, even without reciprocity.

I had a painless experience getting a PA NR permit in Adams County (Gettysburg), but of course that was based on holding a MD permit. This sort of craziness is exactly what the reciprocity bill is designed to solve, but everyone's worried that bill will be confused with "Republicans want more mass murderers to have guns" or something, so it's in cryo-storage in the senate. Don't be a chicken-shit, McConnell. Cite this perfect example of why the bill is a grand gesture towards nation-wide Equal Protection Under The Law. You know, like the Constitution requires.

    Update page from www.handgunlaw.us

Effective May 16, PA will no longer recognize any VA permit.

Rumored to be because VA does not conduct a NICS check on resident permits. They only use the VSP database. They do conduct a NICS check on NR permits.

This is why WI honors the VA NR, but not the resident permit.
