As effed up as the DC gun laws are, at least what defines “featureless” (I.e. not an assault rifle in gun grabber speak) for a semi-auto rifle is easy to understand vs. what might be considered banned in FSA 2013. I’m a DC resident, but frequent MD, so I like to make sure my purchases don’t violate the commie laws in either jurisdiction.

I currently have an Ares SCR, which even though it isn’t an HBAR, I understand it is GTG in MD since the lower is rather unique and not considered a copy cat of a FSA banned gun.

Where I get confused is with Thordsen stock ARs (e.g. https://www.dark-storm.com/dsi/ds-1...storm-ds-15-moe-featureless-5.56-rifle-black/). Am I correct in thinking that while I know this gun is legal in DC, that it would NOT be legal in MD without an HBAR since the lower is pretty much a standard AR lower?

What about pistol caliber carbines (e.g. https://www.dark-storm.com/dsi/ds-9/ds-9-moe-rifles/dark-storm-ds-9-moe-featureless-9mm-rifle-black/)? Does the HBAR requirement only apply to 5.56?

google is your friend, I am not.
1-its not just the "lower" but the whole gun. For example piston ARs are gtg.

    2. Yes, I think Thorsden stock ARs need a hbar, ironically. In MD. Looks like a standard AR with an abomination for a stock.

    3. Hbar only applies to 556 rifles. Pistol caliber and other rifle calibers like 308, 6.5 grendel, 224 Valk... are all cash and carry. So in MD a Thorsden stock AR in 300 blk would not need an HBAR.

    4. Ares SCR, gtg.
