Thank you to Stoveman for passing on the news of this to me and for all our Patriot family who could be there as family to Captain Phillip Brown. Sadly doctor appointment for my wheelchair bound dad was also happening Thursday. Captain Brown was in my prayers and his sacrifice carries on in my heart as I appreciate the ultimate sacrifice he and his fellow soldiers lived and died through so that we can live free in this great country and world. RIP Brother Phillip Brown

Does the army keep public record of who gets what and why? It would be interesting to read the story.

It’s sad to see a man’s life end with no family or close friends around. I guess the state will dispose of whatever worldly possessions he has including those medals.
Rest In Peace Captain Brown. Thank you for your service to our country.

A couple more screen caps of some members of the Patriot Picket Color Guard positioned near the podium (Baltimore National Cemetery Director speaking here) taken from local news video.

Patriot Picket members were both humbled and inspired by the courageous service of Captain Phillip Brown.

It was a privilege to fly the US and Maryland flags for his Burial Service:

    I couldn't make it. I wanted to.

I was looking at the pictures posted. That Maryland flag has no place during this event of this veterans burial. The Patriot Picket misstepped on this one.

Captain Brown lived up near Aberdeen. We had four US flags flanking the Maryland flag. It was very much respectful. Lacking family, the People of Maryland stepped-up. I fail to see the issue.

I did a little Google fu before bringing that flag and I couldn't find anything that said it would be inappropriate. I'm sure that the cemetery director would have said something if it was. Capt Brown was from MD and it was a MD flag.
