States With More Gun Owners Have More Gun-Related Suicides: Study
    https://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/news/fullstory_158931.html
Looking at 33 years' worth of data, the researchers found that states with more gun owners generally had more suicides by firearm among both men and women. Men in those states also had higher overall suicide rates.

The findings do not prove that guns lead to more suicides, said lead researcher Dr. Michael Siegel, a professor at the Boston University School of Public Health.

To counter the antis' inevitable flag-waving:

But only association was found, not cause-and-effect

In other news, people who never get on a plane are much less likely to die in a plane crash than people who fly.

And if everyone else would only listen to them, then nobody would die in a plane crash. There ought to be a law. Or hundreds of them.

Well, to be honest, we have a cookie jar. When the cookie jar is full of cookies, I eat more cookies. When it is empty, I do not eat cookies. So using science, I have deducted it is the cookie's fault I eat cookies, therefore gain weight. So, obviously guns cause suicide.

You need a jar that only holds ten cookies.

Japan's suicide rate is 150% higher than the United States and they have very restrictive gun laws. I guess people find a way.

    Aha!

Somebody took their guns away, so now they all want to kill themselves!

    See?

After the UK gun ban, the suicide rates did not go down. IIRC, they actually went up a bit. Suicide by gun went way down. Same for the murder rate.

If you listen to the narrative, they are very specific when they say GUN violence. When the rates of GUN crimes and suicide by GUN go down they will crow about the results. They just don't like guns.

What are they doing in the UK now that they have gotten rid of guns?
