tried this in rifles but did not get any responses.
I am thinking about replacing my synthetic stock with a laminated wood stock.
now the rub, my rifle is a shr 970 no longer being made and never had enough followers to justify companies making stocks that fit, so this will be a buy a blank and have someone fit it to my gun. just trying to figure basic info, ie like anybody local to Md. that does this, average price, length of time it takes. any info will be greatly appreciated.

Have you contacted some of the stock makers?

They might have a pattern to do the inletting on rifles they do not normally list.

But the pattern exists; deerhtr has it (the complete rifle). The synth stock is the pattern. Putting it on a duplicator and making a wooden stock is a cinch.

It had already been mentioned. So why say the same thing again?

I was offering a DIFFERENT approach.

Many stock makers use CNC now, so even though not listed, they might have a CNC program for the proper inlet for your rifle.

Good thing there is an Ignore feature, so I don't mistakenly give you advice you do not want in the future.
