As we have learned from anti gun activists in the past, facts don’t matter. Government wants this power and enough people are still dumb/scared enough to believe that terrorism is a threat to their life so these laws will continue to get passed.

It's coming and it's only a matter of time.

The "deal". The horse trading. The "bipartisan compromise."

It's the elitist D.C. insiders way of trading off your liberty in exchange for something they claim "must pass".

This happens every time we get close to victory, and it's happening right now with the renewal of the anti-gun "PATRIOT Act" provisions I've been warning you about.

However, the fight is NOT over. It's just beginning.

The good news is, pro-gun U.S. Senator Rand Paul bought us ten and a half hours yesterday.

That's how long he held the Senate Floor, beginning his filibuster of the "PATRIOT Act".

But we've still got ten and a half days left before the "PATRIOT Act's" anti-gun provisions finally expire.

That means it's absolutely crucial we keep the pressure on U.S. Senators.

Right now the best way to apply pressure is by signing your EMERGENCY FAX PETITION.

Now, when Senator Paul took the floor at 1:18pm for his filibuster, he did so as a procedural maneuver to prevent the Senate from moving to new business, including the "PATRIOT Act."

By attempting to block the Obama trade deal, he delayed plans to RAM the Patriot Act extension through this week.

And it worked, sending shockwaves through the Washington establishment, forcing leadership to rearrange valuable floor time.

Capitol Insiders say Senator Paul has stalled the "PATRIOT Act" and that leadership is prepared to cancel Memorial Day weekend plans to make up for lost time.

Yes, that's right.

Lawmakers are actually thinking about spending Memorial Day -- a day meant to honor the sacrifices of our nation's heroes -- working to curtail very the rights and freedoms they fought for!

But with your help, and your signed EMERGENCY FAX PETITION, Senator Paul's filibuster may be able to outlast their efforts to renew this unconstitutional law.

Now, Senator Paul has brought a handful of his colleagues over to his side -- by insisting that none of these "PATRIOT Act" provisions should be renewed.

But other Senators, like John McCain (R-AZ), Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and their puppet, freshman U.S. Senator Tom Cotton from Arkansas, are demanding a straight renewal.

Remember, one of the dangers to gun owners is that the existing "PATRTIOT Act" provisions up for renewal also allow the federal government to gather:
*** Gun Purchase Records, including credit card records, check images from your bank, gun shop receipts, and even the form 4473 you filled out for the background check;
*** Hunting or Sporting gear purchases,magazine subscription records or even gun show attendance records (by scanning license plates in the parking lot as the DEA planned to do);
*** Concealed weapons permit lists, firearms training certificates, or hunting permit applications; and,
*** Private medical records of gun owners.
During Sen. Paul's filibuster last night even Democrat U.S. Senator Ron Wyden acknowledged the dangers of these "PATRIOT Act" provisions:

"Government officials could use the PATRIOT Act to collect, collate, and retain medical records, financial records, library records, gun purchase records, you name it!"

Even though the House passed a version of the "PATRIOT Act" last week aimed at addressing some of these issues, it doesn't go far enough.

That bill, grossly misnamed "USA Freedom Act," is basically a fig leaf change to allow the NSA spying to continue.

The only way to assure this law is not abused (or isn't currently being abused) is to let it expire.

The situation is fluid, and things could change fast.

Over the next few days, expect Senators who vocally support Obama's NSA Spying to do everything they can to let it be renewed without any changes.

This includes Senators McCain, Graham, Cotton, and even Marco Rubio (R-FL) and John Thune (R-SD) who voted for this anti-freedom law every chance they've had since they took office.

Many of them have already indicated they're going to oppose any meaningful amendments or changes to the law on the floor.

Look for them, along with Senate Leadership to try and "make a deal" by promising other weak-kneed Senators legislative perks in exchange for their vote.

And don't be surprised if the media rushes to their defense by banging the drums of "national security" and "terrorism."

But to date, the FBI has not been able to point to a single case where these "PATRIOT Act" provisions stopped an act of terror.

Mike, I need you to send a message to your U.S. Senators reminding them to oppose any reauthorization of the "PATRIOT Act" provisions, today.
