I just happened to stop by a LGS yesterday looking for a Savage 99 in 250-3000 and while they didn't have one of those I did find an Ithaca Deer Slayer. From what little I've been able to deduce it was made around 2002. The barrel appears to have the rifling all the way down to the chamber and it is a 2 2/4 " chamber. Now for the unusual part... The receiver does not have any roll marks saying Deer Slayer or a picture of a field filled with game or a deer on either side. The barrel is a factory barrel marked as from King Ferry New York. It the lack of roll marks on the receiver found often? What about the ammunition it likes? Anyone know of a particular type of slug, sabot these seem to like?

Not positive but Google King Ferry Ithaca's, I think they were assembled from left over Ithaca parts and the quality may be questionable. I could be wrong.
