I find all this confusing; I want to increase the drop at heel of the stock of my A400 Xcel. It came with a T-45/T-40 set of plates. Beretta sells C-50/C-65 and C-55/C60 plates. I have read in other forums that T is for target stock and you can't use the C which is for the standard stock; yet Beretta's web site seems to lump them altogether.

In the mean time I flipped it from 40 to 45 which will increase the drop at heel from 40 to 45 mm. I could use another 5mm (50) though. I asked Beretta support to explain - but you if guys know anything I would appreciate it.

It's also very unclear how to orient the front spacer between the receiver and stock. Should the number be facing me from the receiver, or from the stock? If this is wrong, the stock will crack. Wonderful.

    [EDIT] From beretta:
    Hello John:

Thank you for contacting Beretta Customer Support.

The desired cast and drop should face the shooter in an upright position.

    Best regards,

    Here's what Beretta Support says:

    Hello John:

Thank you for contacting Beretta Customer Support.

Sir, the A400 Xcel Parallel Target can only use the spacers provided with the gun- the 42.5 set installed in the firearm, and the reversible 40/45 set included in the case.

If you attempt to use the 50/65 set, which is only intended for use in the Sporting stocks, it will put uneven torque on the stock bolt, and eventually crack the stock.

    Thank you for choosing Beretta.

    Best regards,

    Beretta Customer Support
