Finally finished my latest assembly. It came out beyond my expectations so far. It’s light and should prove handy in the deer woods.

JP lower receiver with a JP shop installed and tuned trigger
    Vltor upper receiver
    Pws gen 2 buffer tube
    JP center ground buffer spring
    Spikes T1 3.0 oz buffer
    ARP 14.7” barrel
M16 nb carrier with ARP super bolt
Pws triad FH gemtech quickmount compatible pinned and welded.
SLR Sentry 7 adj gas block
    Mid length gas
    MI gen 3 12” rail
    Trijicon AccuPower 1-8x28

That's awesome. The thing should shoot great with that combo. What's the overall weight?

Very nice  Did I hear somewhere that the U.S. Military is considering the 6.8 SPC. I think it's a great caliber.
    I know it costs more.

At one point. Not really now. They are possibly considering a 6.8 caliber scoped, telescoping round. Unlikely to see the light of day.

If I had to guess I would say around 6 lbs without glass give or take.
I love the trijicon 1-8 but it’s a little on the heavy side and makes the rifle feel a little top heavy.

I know the 6.8 has been around a while but I never really gave it a second glance. I was persistent about a weapon that’s chambered in common cartridges easily found in military surplus and such.

But my buddy kept ranting and raving about it so I looked into it more. I have to say I was impressed and intrigued by the info I found out about it. It has quite the following. The 6.8forum is a great source of info. This build went from just slapping together the cheapest parts I could find to what I have now which I would say is middle of the road quality. I talked at length with the owner of AR performance about this build( super nice guy by the way) and he assured me his barrel would stand up against any of the higher dollar match barrels. I believe him too because all the 6.8forum guys have nothing but good to say about him and his products.

I can’t wait to get some good hand loads worked up for this thing.
