Will PPOTH and Advanced be prerequisites?

No prerequisites were discussed. Appears to be a stand alone course designed for those who are going to carry. My guess is that the course will cover topics presented in PPOTH and Advanced Pistol. The NRA spokesman was emphatic that it will not be state specific in nature and in no way will it replace any training specified by a state in order to qualify for a CCW permit.

IIRC he got hit with an explosive or shot in that hand. (Can't remember which) He had the surgeon fix it up in a claw shape so he could still grip his pistol. Hence the finger close to trigger.

Also Gunsite still teaches the "take the slack out of the trigger as you present" method. There's pros and cons to everything and context is what matters.

Not really. Once the muzzle is on the threat regardless from where it gets presented, bent elbow/hip/retention position to being pressed all the way forward to the threat, if it goes off anywhere on that path, then you've got your shot.
What would be the con to that? you've made the decision to shoot.

Typically that "slack" is taken up pressing out from the high ready, forward, and hammer breaks at full extension. It's a timing thing. But again, if it gets off a little early before full extension, so what? You're still on target.

    Context is king.

Rolling the slack out and applying pressure as you present on a threat/target/xenomorph/Yautja isn't a bad thing.

To integrate it as part of the draw as Gunsite instructs too CAN be a bad thing. Moving the gun out of the holster to get comfy in your car, pointing at a strange noise, showing off your CCW to friends (I've witnessed all these) can trip your brain cells to "oh gun in hand, pressure on trigger" which CAN lead to bad things.

Then there's firearm design and doctrine. The technique you describe was developed for and works best with DA/SA revolvers, DAO & DA/SA pistols. The modern polymer wonders generally have lighter and shorter triggers and with the shortened actuation time can lead to a narrower window between slight pressure and bang. So less of a chance to decide not to shoot if the situation changes.

Now everyone reading this will say that they are too highly trained/gifted/taught/certified whatever to do these things. Which you are, right up to the point until you aren't.

For me. Finger off trigger until me want bang bang, take gun and holster off as a unit and avoiding idiots will work fine.

    Again, context is king.
