I have a 20 gauge shotgun and a .22 rifle that I'd like to give to my son. What do I need to do, if anything. Thanks

Sorry. Yes, he is in MD.

Face to face transfer. So long as he is a non-prohibited person.

It's your son, so you decide how you want to handle, but most would recommend a bill of sale, to include make, model, serial number, name of tranferee, DL number, address, and even photocopy of ID.

Many templates available online for a firearm bill of sale you could use.

I might be wrong but I think to legally be a "sale" there has to be a monetary amount. When I transferred a long gun to a very close friend as a gift, I did it in the amount of $1, per the bill of sale.

Thanks. Doesn't this site (MDS) have a Bill of Sale template?

What every it is, you better do it before Oct 1.

Even under the crap that is HB4 transfer among family is legal. Sb208 as amended widened what family meant (it is pretty expansive) and house adopted that in the end.

So as father to son, zero hurry.

I believe we are all one big human family. I’m using that definition.
