    His grip instructions, the push pull thing, I've never heard that before.
    Is that a proper technique ?

    The guy seems like a professional liar.

    I would not say push pull is the thing, but many instructors will tell you to grip with different and offsetting forces as a way to control the handgun. If you have two good strong hands it works fine. But if you have any handicapp (arthritis, injury, etc) it can backfire.

    Edit: never heard up push-pull in firearms. Only in archery.
