The number of uniformed officers in the mid-Atlantic city fell 6.1 percent last year and has shrunk by even more in the first half of this year, according to police data seen by Reuters and not previously reported.

Detroit residents are increasingly carrying guns for self-defense, and Detroit Police Chief James Craig describes an armed citizenry as part of what has been successful in fighting crime in the city.

In fact, Craig suggests other cities should take note and learn the benefit of residents who take the time to get a concealed carry license and who carry a gun to protect life and property.

And with all that gun-totin by law abiding citizens:

Violent and property crimes were down in Detroit last year compared to 2014, according to Detroit police statistics.

The city reported a 23% drop in stolen vehicles, from 10,356 in 2014 to 7,938 last year; an 18% decline in robberies, from 3,806 to 3,103, and a 15% drop in burglaries, from 10,600 to 9,027.

Police reported there were 295 criminal homicide cases last year, down from 299 in 2014.

“Nobody’s declaring success — we’ve got a lot of work to do,” Mayor Mike Duggan said Thursday. “I think what the men and women of the police department have done is terrific."

He also credited Detroit Police Chief James Craig, whose leadership he said "has been outstanding.”

The evidence is in: FSA 2013 was an abysmal failure.

I know Larry Hogan is out there somewhere. Time for some real leadership in Annapolis.

Never going to happen...The immoral liberal vermin that run the state would rather see you and your family dead...

Detroit has been losing population at a staggering rate at about 250K since 2000. People are just tired of watching the city slowly die. Don't doubt the increase in CCW has had an impact with criminals. I guess the masses don't look quite as vulnerable to thugs as they did prior to the city getting CCW authority.

Of course B'more's population has also dropped from about 1 Million to about 625K, but our homicide rate & non-fatal shooting rate have skyrocketed in 2015 & so far in 2016. Glad to see FSA2013 is doing its intended job.

Too long for a sign, but great for a billboard.

An alienate those Democrats that support us and are gun owners.

If we are going to use labels, then there is only one label that needs to be use that accurately describes those we despise....Anti-gun.
