SBS Question

So im looking to submit a form 1 soon to put a 14" barrel on my Remington 870. Are there any special MD laws regarding SBS's that I need to be aware of, such as a minimum oal like there is with SBR's? Also I'm assuming I will need my informantion engraved just like an SBR.

I have not heard of any Maryland restrictions on SBS.

You will not violate any OAL laws with a 14" barrel. Go for it, you'll love it. Here is mine for inspiration.

I always like seeing that shotgun. What is the OAL of it? I just submitted a form 1 for a 870 with a 13" barrel. I just guessed what the OAL will be.

I'm planning on cutting it to 14" and going down until I like the look. No +1 like yours has.

With the 14" barrel and a 13" length of pull, my OAL is 30".

So hung up worrying about AR and AK SBRs, I hadn't even thought of an SBS :drool:

Nothing MD special. OAL only matters for semi auto center fire rifles. Shotguns have the semi-auto/folding stock test but that doesn't come into play here.

Thanks. Do it. I actually got my barrel from Engage. They had a few police trade-ins a while back. I would check with them periodically to see if they get any in.

Wouldn't it be really easy to just cut the barrel on a shotgun?

Yes. That would be the most economical route. I ended up selling my barrel and buying the 14" one.
