From Timonium today - Knight DISC , the Original type , with orange do-hicky to hold the 209 .

While this physically occurred at the show, I've known him 25yrs , and he was a BP Gunsmith/ maker for 43yr until recently lost his lease on shop.

Meanwhile , back at the rifle - .50cal , blue ,synthetic , with mounted Bushnell 3-9

He has enough knowledge and experience , that his personal ( ie what he prefers for his own use) recomendations I would give weight and value to certainty be functional and effective , even if final decisions can be personal preference . Larry is primarily a tradionalist , but uses enough modern inline to know what he prefers .

He recomends the Precision Rifle brand over all the usual suspects , and praises the game performance of the 260gr all lead HP

When he does Pellets , he swears by the White Hots , with emphasis on their being less hydoscopic than 777 .

    Recommend CCI 209M ( aka Magum ) primers .

    Knight ML

I had an "Extreem" that used the disks and it was a tack driver. BTW, I prefer the 50 gn pellets over powder since you can unload very easily w/o having to fire/clean the riffle every year.

I use 777 50gr pellets because; they always go bang and fire consistently, they are sturdier than the unreliable Shocky gold pellets. The Blue MZ wonder pellets are fragile but seem to work w/ low residue. I've used 5 year old 777 pellets reliably for 20 years. My Encore 50 cal is under 1 moa at 100 yards and 100 using 100 grains and 285 Accutip power belts. The Knight was also very accurate and I traded up to the Encore because you should clean the trigger group of the Knight every time you fire it or it will fail eventually. You don't have to w/ the break breaches.

I like the Power Belts over the original Knight Sabots that had the yellow plastic sleeves that went around the slug. These were VERY tight in a clean barrel and almost impossible to load in a dirty barrel. The Power Belts go in much easier an their plastic skirt expands upon firing for a good seal.

The down side of 777, BP, and pyrodex is that they are foul the barrel more than the new wonder pellets. You get 2-3 shots before having to clean the barrel with 777 and Pyrodex. A quick boresnake or swab is all that is needed.

Water us the only solvent I use to clean. A couple of wet swatches, then dry, then a few passes w/ Ballistol and you are ready to go.

Finally, you will probably find that 100 grains v/s 150 grains is more accurate and will foul much less.
