Moving to VA has been in a long term option for years. Now that I'm at that crossroads, of course VA flipped blue. The recent gun control laws passed and those in the works are giving me pause. There are other far left proposals such as the national popular vote pact and the like that suck too. I understand VA is still no where as bad as MD, but we all know this is an incremental play by the Dems. So before I start looking for a house in earnest, what do you folks think about the chances of VA flipping back in the next couple of years? Is the VA GOP fired up? Do you see/feel the momentum shifting?

I liked what I seen on a recent Bloomturd event I attended with the PP , and the VA advocates , to me it looks promising . But I must be honest I never thought VA and other states would be having issues about Constitutional freedoms .

I came to Va a little over a year ago. The lax gun laws were just one reason for the move. Gun laws changed, or are changing. I still have my guns. That won't change. But the other reasons I came here has not changed. Probably never will.

If you pick the right part of Va to move to, you won't be sorry. I'm sure there are places as good to live. W Va is just over the hill from me. Absolutely beautiful country. But this place that I've been blessed with in Va is without a doubt Gods country. I wouldn't go back to Md for all the whiskey in Ireland. :)

    Good luck to you.

I think it will flip to red.

This latest round of insanity p1ssed off 1,000 times more us than it did to impress additional grabbers.

I have seen zero fresh passion on their side. I saw 300 become 30,000 in Richmond. Some of that might wear off, unless they try this BS in their next session.

I think Bloomberg flopping in the VA primary was a good sign. With all the money he spent buying the statehouse 2 years ago you know he had a lot of those little tyrants that owed him. Even so he couldn't pull it off. I'm thinking this was a wake up call for VA and they will pay attention and correct the situation, at least I hope so.

I believe there's a chance it will flip. There is a lot of momentum now with county militias popping up all over the place. Nearly all of the most egregious and "progressive" bills failed and I think there will be backlash. That said, NoVA dominates the state and as that population grows, it will be a slow walk towards the Blue eventuality. Still a great place to live for other reasons, but if you're worried about gun laws, I think WV is the best bet on the east coast. NC, SC, GA, TN, FL will all turn blue in time.

I won't be so bold as to say I "think" it will, but I'll say that I hope it will, and I'll try to do my part to help motivate local conservative voters to get off their asses and VOTE.

That's the key. We don't need more like minded people, we need the ones we already have to get off their asses and vote. That's a major problem both sides have.
I have voted in every election since 1980, I can't imagine sitting one out.

Nope. This is a census year. The Democrats get to redraw the election districts after the census is over. The chances of them flipping both chambers of their legislature and removing the Democrat from the governor's office are Slim. The laws that have been passed this session will be with them for quite some time I'm afraid. I put absolutely no hope in the courts accepting the challenge and if they do standing up for the Second Amendment. In short Virginia did this to themselves by not voting and Virginia did this to themselves by not taking the real action required to stop this kind of infringement.

Bloomberg spent 2 million to help liberal politicians in key districts get elected. It doesn’t take a lot of money in a local election to make a difference.

We need to support whomever is running against the incumbents in district 13 in the next election.

    No.

Longer answer.. when people in virginia were free, and other currently free states too, folks looked at the socialist states, like NY NJ MA etc and said, quit complaining about your state and leave.

Well, they did. And they wind up in places like VA. And they still vote the same was they did where they came from.

Several people on another state 2a/gun/hunting forum are having this exact discussion today. But when the folks move into and turn the red state blue(er), they wonder what happened. When it goes trifecta blue (gov senate and assembly/house) they cannot figure out why.

I do hope va mobilized and turns back, at least one of the 3, in the next election, but it’ll require a big effort.

The problem is; "even if the state turns red in the next election, it will take several years to undue the damage being enacted during this blue-turd term".

There will simply not be enough red votes to overturn governor vetoes of any legislature attempt at rollback gun legislation. Unless the VA GOP can field better governor candidates, northern VA will insure a demo-rat governor holds office for the foreseeable future. :sad20:

I hope my analysis is wrong, but I doubt that is the case.

Even if all of the too-lazy-to-vote conservatives get off their butts next time around and do manage to flip the state's legislature back to the skin-of-the-teeth majority they previously had, it will only be a temporary reprieve. The populous beltway-area counties will continue to swell with soccer-mom style voters at a pace far exceeding the sleepy rural counties. The problem is not going to go away, it's going to get worse, even if there's a temporary fix. IF the right can reclaim the legislature and the governor's office, maybe they can get in some structural changes to Virginia law that will defend things like 2A and other important issues in a more solid, future-proof way. But NoVa liberals WILL win the fight over time, and be able to reverse anything good. I'm afraid that some day, even WV will slide off that cliff, but that will take decades, not months.

We're going out to WV tomorrow morning to look at 40 acres of land. Never thought it would come to this, but now I know better.

It will flip back red... or at least divided government for a short period. The left violated the primary rule for boiling a frog... as soon as they got in power they cranked the burner all the way up and the frog woke up and jumped the pot... they will get another chance, unfortunately.

In response to the question posed in the title of this thread:

I get down on my knees and pray for The Commonwealth, every night!

My wife and I considered VA when we started hunting for our lakehome back in ‘10 ... even then we were, “Nope, no way.”

Our “guts” told us sooner than later No VA was gonna butt rape the rest of VA the way Balt City Mont and PG Co do MD ...

Of course, NC could go the same way in a decade or so (fvcking transplanting NY’ers are hell bent on ruining NC as it is!)

Real question is will people stand for rights being stolen for free stuff.

Given 25% of districts were non compete? What would they do if ALL contested and talked about freedom instead of free shit? I live here and only saw a couple anti gun commercials based on the Virginia Beach shooting. I think people were blindside by the radical left turn. (hope) idea of partisanship is out the window. It is now control, people should be concerned.

I will wait. Nva cant run it all yet.

The demographics have changed due to mass immigration. VA will never be red again.

Edit: I’m talking about Presidential and Senatorial elections. In the state legislature, VA might turn red again.
