I'd rather they just ban them in all 50 states instead of going one by one. It would get more unity from 2a supporters this way. One by one works to their favor.

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

This POS bill includes semi-automatic pistols and shotguns. These Dems are nuts. At least the number of sanctuary counties is increasing. Sure to be many suits against the bill if it passes. fred55

Read the bottom of the bill. It's illegal to possess an "assault weapon". I guess they aren't even going to grandfather anything. That gets out, I sure hope there are protests.

That's pretty optimistic thinking. It will pass. The dims control the whole government because people like ToolAA's client who said something along the lines that he's not worried (I read that as not voting) because even if the dims win they aren't like the MD dims. Well, guess what? He's right, they're worse.

Getting closer to when protests aren't going to cut it. There needs to be mass non-compliance and an armed march on Richmond (otherwise legal-like as the actual guns will be illegal at that point) and see what happens. Depending on their reaction perhaps the parched Liberty Tree will get a drink.

    Then there's this:

That the provisions of this act may result in a net increase in periods of imprisonment or
448 commitment. Pursuant to § 30-19.1:4 of the Code of Virginia, the estimated amount of the
449 necessary appropriation cannot be determined for periods of imprisonment in state adult
450 correctional facilities; therefore, Chapter 854 of the Acts of Assembly of 2019 requires the Virginia
451 Criminal Sentencing Commission to assign a minimum fiscal impact of $50,000.

The tyrants anticipate non-compliance and expect to spend $$$ to make sure they have enough budget to support imprisonment. :mad54:

No ex post facto law ...what was once legal cannot be made illegal.

You mean like bump-stocks They've already proven they can do this and pass legal muster. I fully agree with your sentiment, but they aren't going to call it ex post facto. They are going to make a date in the future when all will be banned. :mad54:

That's not what ex post facto means.

It means they can't make a law that says what you did yesterday can be prosecuted tomorrow. Making something illegal today even though it was legal yesterday isn't ex post facto. It used to be legal to drive without a license and cars didn't need tags.

Ex post facto would be a ban on peanut butter on toast starting today, but the law saying you could be arrested, prosecuted and jailed for doing it last week.

That isn't what it means. What was legal when you did it, that is later made illegal, could not result in a prosecution, after it has been made illegal.

By royal decree his highness Donnie has already proven "They" (or "HE") can do any damned thing they want to do and we will let them. (Bumpstocks are now machineguns). We will even defend them, while standing tall on internet forums.

They keep pushing to create criminals out of law abiding citizens, yet these are the same people who would vote to decriminalize petty theft and assault.

This is NOT an ex post facto law. An ex post facto law would be prosecuting someone for possession of the item BEFORE the law was passed. They give you ample time to rid yourself of the item. Not that I agree with this, but people need to understand the meaning of ex post facto.

google is your friend, I am not.
Let people know whats coming and then vote in more republicans and hope they win.

The problem in VA is that a lot of people think Dems are "reasonable" and "different" on guns - which may have been true in the past. This cycle however, Bloomberg bought a lot of representation. It could still be true that there are a lot of pro-gun Dems in VA. We will see. I suspect that the VA Dem party is being taken over by the left wing, same as it ever was. I think an outright socialist won running as a Dem. So much for the VA Dem party of moderation.

Plus, the GOP in VA has been completely feckless the last 5 years or so.

Good grief, here we go with this again. It is not an ex post facto law. They banned the possession of "rapid fire trigger devices" in Maryland without a real grandfathering clause.

An ex post facto law makes prior behavior criminal today. A law like this would make possession on the date the law goes into effect, criminal. My guess is that the law would go into effect in a future after it is passed. So, people would have plenty of time to comply. Now, just because it is not an ex post facto law does not mean I agree with it. Just don't want anybody thinking this thing is going to die in the courts because it is an ex post facto law.
