  • We got backstabbed in Florida by Republicans. The lesson I took from that is that its foolhardy to look to politicians to secure rights. The only thing that they are good for is to appoint judges with the spine to uphold the constitution. I am voting on taxes and some other things as a check on Mike and Mike.

Yes, Hogan is a RINO. In Western PA, the Dem Lamb who just won is to the right of Hogan. This is MD, and MoCo is as progressive socialist as it gets. Far worse than Philly. I have not fallen for any charade. If Hogan loses, the Dem will, and I guarantee you will hate what Mike Mike and Commienutz do even more. Commienutz has already promised free tuition to everyone.

none I REPEAT NONE of this matters to my principals. The truth is that the MGA can pass any bill into law right now, regardless of WHO is the governor. Hogan is toothless and I will vote my principals based on HIS actions, not the MGA...He said in the 2014 campaign he would not "roll back any gun laws" and I took him at his word and I was right...The ONLY thing he has done is to remove the spent case registry which was done to save money, not because he supports the 2A. You go ahead and vote against your 2A rights...but don't come back here bitching when they decide the new law doesn't go far enough and they decide to ban more and more....

Like I've been saying for years...Gun owners are their own worst enemy..Frankly you sound like someone who would hand over your firearms to the first cop you see if the government decided to ban possession of them...

It was in the news a bit ago. Same plan as Hillary Clinton which they've rolled out elsewhere. Start small, at the Baltimore County level. But he's running for gov, this is part of is campaign platform.

In Baltimore county he is proposing something needs based. Students must have a certain GPA and must apply for all available grants/scholarships.

I don't agree with his proposal. Just making it clear that is does seem to be across the board free tuition.

LULZ, no. But people who fold their arms and say they wont vote, have no leverage and no seat at the table. The next Dem gov will turn this place into New Jersey.

If it feels like we got our ass kicked, far from it. We beat back a heck of a lot of stupidity. Some of which passed in FL. If Hogan were not governor, we would have got magazine bans and a whole lot of other CA or NJ type nonsense this year. We beat back a children crusade, marches and a whole lot of other mob rule silliness.

It is too bad we have a turncoat as a governor along with many in GA.
This is what one founder of our country believed.. Samuel Adams ( He also thought much like John Locke)

Samuel Adams returned to Boston in 1779 to attend a state constitutional convention. The Massachusetts General Court had proposed a new constitution the previous year, but voters rejected it, and so a convention was held to try again. Adams was appointed to a three-man drafting committee with his cousin John Adams and James Bowdoin. They drafted the Massachusetts Constitution, which was amended by the convention and approved by voters in 1780. The new constitution established a republican form of government, with annual elections and a separation of powers.

It reflected Adams's belief that "a state is never free except when each citizen is bound by no law whatever that he has not approved of, either directly, or through his representatives".
By modern standards, the new constitution was not "democratic"; Adams, like most of his peers, believed that only free males who owned property should be allowed to vote, and that the senate and the governor served to balance any excesses that might result from majority rule.

That's the thing. We didn't get our asses kicked. We were sold out and betrayed.

It's one thing for the supermajority, gerrymandered party to ram through whatever silliness they can concoct, breeze it through on party lines after a vigorous debate and then dare the governor to veto it.

It is another thing entirely for the scumbags who presumably had our back, and have now shown us that we matter only as far as we are politically expedient, to pass it with broad partisan support and pretend that their reasons for it are defensible.

No. "Our side" played politics with this issue and burned us. If I want someone to vote to take away my rights, I'll cast a vote for a liberal. All but a handful of Republicans in Annapolis showed us their true colors. They are traitors. They are wholly undeserving of our support.

No such thing as free, somebody has to pay for it! Who is going to pay for the Billions of tax incentives for Amazon to locate here, the taxpayers that's who.
I have to say, it would be difficult, given the present circumstances, for him to veto the anti legislation. Even Carroll County rino Susan Krebs voted for it. Remember, Lou 45 and I said she was not to be trusted. Krebs needs to go! Hogan needs to stand up or he risks losing any support from the 2A community.

Everyone can sit here and argue "gun laws this" "gun laws that" "anti 2A support whatever"...'til you are blue in the face. You are wasting your breath.

    NONE of it matters.

The ONLY thing that has even a remote possibility of saving Maryland is redistricting.

If my only choice is to pull a lever for an anti with a chance to get new lines, and Hogan is that anti, I'll pull that lever.

A 2A vote in Maryland is delusional. Redistricting is the golden egg. Everything else is just noise.

Not so sure. Given that something was going to pass, and Mike and Mike were committed to passing it and overriding Hogan's veto, which they could have done, what we got in trade was that the language for both bills was a massive improvement.

The choice was never "nothing passes." The choice was the original vague garbage language passes, or the current language. The language changes in both the original bump stock and ERPO bills were massive improvements.

    This times a billion.

If the MGA wanted to they already could and there is nothing we or anyone else could do to stop them....The governor, regardless of who he/she is doesn't make the law...if you're afraid of more infringement address that with your delegates and senator...This isn't about who passes what, it's about principals...you cannot say you are pro 2A if you're willing to vote for someone who will throw your rights under the bus...period

What if the only way to effect 2A change is to get new district lines drawn?

What if Hogan is the only way to do that?

Therefore, voting for Hogan, to get new lines drawn, is actually 2A support.

nope...before Owe Malley gerrymandered the map our districts were fairly right (as fairly right as possible in the People's Republic) and we still were defeated...going all the way back to 1986..Maryland is nearly 70% dem. You can redistrict all you like and you mathematically still won't have enough REAL Republicans in the MGA to roll back any gun control...The only thing in our favor would be the inability for the left to override a veto...Hogan isn't vetoing gun control so it makes zero difference. Redistricting is a pipe dream..
