Question to those who think that wearing a suit and tie to these events would be more appropriate, what did you wear yesterday? And if you didn't wear a suit and tie are you going to at the next one?

Not busting anyone's balls, just curious.

I wear what I wear to work. I thought it was funny during the downtown DC event, one of the antis came up and asked what one of the co-patriots did for a living. He said he was an IT professional up the street making a significant amount of money. The guy looked shocked that a professional would be pro 2A.

I should add, that when we are inside the house and senate building, professional attire should be the norm. If I was going to the MAGA rally in DC, I wore my bike shorts. Because, that was what I was wearing to get there.

The personal sniping and bickering in these couple of non-water cooler threads is unseemly, for a bunch of guys and gals who purport to be on the same side. I haven't known enough of you for long enough to have any personal gripes; it seems there are strong personalities in play; and yeah I guess there are honest differences of opinion on tactics and messaging. But for shit's sake can't we just let some of it go? Or at least make it water cooler material?

Anyway, I enjoyed the heck out of my time with y'all on Saturday. There were good conversations with passers-by outside Mission BBQ who looked at my sign and actually walked up and were curious about what it meant. (And mad props to whoever came up with "IXNAY ON EX PARTE", it was a definite conversation-starter!) No one who walked up to engage me in conversation about it, had even heard of the Red Flag Bill. I received a couple of handshakes from men and women thanking me for my explanation, and I didn't see anyone make a face or walk away like I was crazy when I said it was about targeting firearm owners without due process.

    From February, 2013:

I apologize for not knowing the backstory on Sheriff Bateman. In 2013, I signed onto MDS as a member less than 30 days before this post about him (above) went up, and I don't remember seeing it.

Yesterday, he asked, and was given, a minute on the microphone before the full rally and gave an unqualified and full-throated declaration of support for 2A. Does anyone have recent knowledge that he has changed his mind about "AK-47s", and that yesterdays comment came from a changed man?

He is pandering. He nearly lost in 2014 to a no name candidate who couldnt fundraise and didnt do much campaigning, so he switched from a D to an R because that is the way AACo is heading. He boned himself by getting drunk and "arguing" with his wife and worked his connections to get everything dealt with. Now he is looking to for votes to try and get re-elected. He is hoping people's memories are short.

He is a 2A is for me, but not for thee kinda sheriff. He loves the 2A in that regards. He feels its just for hunting and you should be legal required to lock up your firearms, possibly even to the point of keeping them in Gov. controlled building where you only have access to them with permission and for extremely limited purposes. At least these are things he has said before 2015. Maybe he has had a change of heart and now see's the true meaning of the 2A? Maybe he read your signs and realized the errors of his ways?

Stove, I'm among those who believe that dressing tacti-cool is a turnoff to those whose hearts and minds we're trying to change. To them, it's the opposite of virtue-signaling. Dressing that way is seen as "vice-signaling" and nothing that's said will be heard. Not saying it's right, but it is human nature. When I attend an event, I usually dress in business wear. If the meeting might take me into the GA buildings, I'll wear a tie. Last Monday, since it was so chilly I wore a long dress coat and scarf over khaki slacks and a button-down shirt. That said, yesterday was so warm and I knew I'd have to walk a long way, so I opted for shorts and my AAF&G polo shirt, with the crossed rifles insignia on the left breast.

I'm a fan of wear what you are comfortable in after having, at one time, been in the "dress for success" crowd. Camo patterns have come a long way from the surplus military gear with the various different types and patterns of hunting camo that so many sportsmen wear on a daily basis, even when not going hunting.

And there is a difference between wearing camo and being kitted out, and I think what we are talking about from the rally this weekend were the guys that were kitted out in various levels, so let me clarify a few things. The guys kitted out were part of the unorganized militia in Maryland, as well as a few member from PA Lightfoot (militia) and were there to provide assistance should counter protesters show up (which they rarely do). They were kitted out to carry what they needed for the day to be self sufficient as well carry radios so they could stay in contact with each other as well as basic first aid gear if it were needed. The comms were used to get help to at least one individual that needed minor medical assistance since the heat was starting to affect him, he was moved to shade, hydrated, checked on by one of the EMTs in the group and determined by that EMT (and with consultation with one of the DGS officers) to be OK to head home when his ride walked by to get him at the end of the rally.

No one busts on the hunters or sportsmen when they show up in their camo, so why do we do it for the folks that show up for our rallies?

I couldn't go:sad20:...you got me there. :o. But I absolutely would have suited up.

My outside wedding set a record at 104 degrees...and I was sick:puke:, but managed to stay tuxed up.

    Sweat happens

Art, you have one big advantage over most of those on the picket line. You are about 30 years younger and 50 pounds lighter than us.

I am glad that you and your wife feel strong enough about our freedoms to make the long trek.

Hahaha....said the man who so proudly uses this movie character as his avatar:

Lieutenant Colonel William "Bill" Kilgore, 1st Squadron, 9th Air Cavalry Regiment commander and surfing fanatic. Kilgore is a strong-willed leader who loves his men but has methods that appear out-of-tune with the setting of the war. (From Wikipedia)

What did you think of the Baltimore Sun that appears to show Gov.Hogan out of step with his voters on the Red Flag bill—an article that was set in motion by the Patriot Picket Press Release we sent out?
Chuck, you be at the Pig Roast?

I don’t see him on the list, but there’s still one week left in the sign-up window...

Thanks for confirming that it’s good to stay focused on missions for the Greater Good, and not let the Sideline Whiners and Surrender Monkeys derail things.

Under the banner, two new recruits that I hope will log on to give me their names again, with Qwertee123 to their right in our official Patriot Picket "patched" shirt (designed by Stoveman), as Frogman68 rocks the Molon Labe banner and Maryland flag as he explains the RED FLAG traps to a passersby. And that's Stoveman with the "shaming" message.

50 lbs lighter :lol2: You flatter me, sir. Although...black is supposed to be slimming right? ;)

Nobody is saying that every Patriot should be in a suit, just like we aren't saying every teacher has to be armed. Having the option for a couple isn't a bad thing. While on one hand, everyone in Patriot blue might show unity, our opposition is really big on diversity. We all look mostly the same for being white, male, and not terribly young anyway...

We really need a guy who can pull off wearing a dress to carry a sign that says, "The 2A protects whichever gender I choose." That ought to blow some lib minds, eh? :D

Hmmm...99% kidding on that last one...:innocent0 And, if Eruby is willing to do it instead of me, I'm 0% kidding :party29:

Once again, Stoveman and the lovely Mrs Stove, along with new member Cgalladora, who generously donated the FOUR cases of bottled water that we distributed to folks at the Rally. Thank you, sir, and welcome to the fight!

It is amazing how people can do this. The little participation Katie and I were able to do involved a good bit of shuffling around and deferring chores and responsibilities and was getting tougher. How regulars like Rack, Lurker, Stoveman, etc. can make and keep such sustained commitment is truly awe inspiring.

    Thank you to all!

Thank you Art3 and Katie! The cheerfulness that you two bring to every event you’ve attended has been a big bonus!

I am also one who believes that cheerful greetings to passersby works so well to offset any "camo bias" that can happen.

Thanks to PP photographer/videographer MarkGrutz, who captured some great scenes of us on the March Down Main Street.

Here on the return up Main Street on the way back to the Rally after talking with the folks at City Dock, we stop for picture.

After TWO marches starting at 11:30am (with a lunch break in between), our hardy crew arrives back at the Lawyer's Mall a few minutes before the scheduled 2pm Rally to meet up with compatriots and well-wishers and to wait for the rest of the rally attendees to arrive.

Our hats are off to the the later arrivals who struggled to find parking. We had no idea that the massive St. John's College Lawn Party was underway a block away on the same day and would fill almost every space in a garage that is pretty darn empty most of the year on Saturdays.
