We have a lot of gun threads of “What do you regret”, “Gun porn”, etc......

But what did you set out to do and then say, ahhhhh time to move on.

For me it was a Golden boy. I wanted a unterl scope and that old school look. After about 6 months i just decided this wasn’t worth it, and moved on.

I also really wanted all the wonder nines but can’t justify the BHP price and am not keen on a P38.

I also got a hi point rifle. Had no plans for it just hard to pass up at the price point i got. I’ve touched it MAYBE twice, haven’t shot it.
Lastly I’ve bought at least 4 or 5 870s with grand plans only to say “Shotguns bore me”

Remington 700 build. Prices on new bolts, receiver parts and barrels have gone stupid. Maybe I'll try again when Remington starts production back up.

Ive been re-building a couple of N04's lately that are suffering from lack of attention. One of then however will make its range debut today.
After meeting a forum member last weekend I wound up with fodder for a vintage sporter project from various parts that have been languishing. I need a new deer rifle.
Ive been holding parts for a M1c and A4 project for about a year now.
I might just sell that stuff off to someone with more enthusiasm or who can get past D&Ting a relic.

ParaOrd P-18 in .38 Super ... then mulled 9mm ... finally sold the whole PO “Gunsmith’s Kit” (checkered frame, bbl, trigger and a handful of other parts in a labeled box) to a local competitor for $350 (who has since invested in a STI 2011) :lol2:

Hard to describe how giddy I remain over discovering the P-18 mags function in my custom-built and tuned P-16 .40 cuz to say I “saw the future” and “bought a few” of not only complete mags but also tubes back in the 90’s is quite an understatement!

When my son was about 6 I took an H&R single shot bolt action 22 rifle and cut the stock down for him to be able to shoot. My intentions were to fit a buttplate to it and also fit a white plastic or maybe even a contrasting thin wood spacer so that I could reattach the cut-off piece of the stock and restore the rifle to full and have it look good. He is now 33 and, so far, I have not gotten around to doing any of that. But there's still time...

Re-bluing both of my Enfields. I stripped them down long ago due to the horrid oil charred bluing on them and left the native steel oiled. Haven't gotten the personal interest developed back up again to finish them.

Have a SKS and all three models of the Mosin Nagant still slathered in cosmoline. Same lack of interest issue in getting them cleaned.

I bought a completely trashed m1 carbine in terrible condition with a completely destroyed barrel which is stuck on the receiver. Would like to finish it, but who knows lol

Got a Glock 26 slide I was going to get a frame and make it into a fun gun. I ended up having a buddy who wanted it so traded.

I also was building an m1 carbine from parts and I needed to spin the barrel once more with a wrench, but a member here traded me for it.

Not ready to admit defeat yet but I have Mauser K98 build that's been back-burnered.

Bought a sewer pipe RC barreled action. Intention is to make a 7mm Mauser (I really like the round) or .308Win (might go this route as a pull thru reamer will be easier to obtain) K98 with a blued finish and a new walnut K98 stock.

I bought a stock from Boyd's and wow....it needs a lot of work. Upper handguard is twice as big as it needs to be, barrel channel isn't finished, cleaning rod hole isn't drilled, disassembly disk is only half cut. On top of that I need to silver solder the sights.

ETA: Oh, almost forgot to mention that whoever removes the barrel from this receiver will be declared king of England. I used oak blocks, rosen, lead, and torqued it down in a barrel vise with my 1200lb Milwaukee impact, cheater bar on the barrel wrench and the damn thing still spins in the fixture before I can loosen it. I don't have a lathe to relieve the shoulder so I think I'm just going to drill the barrel and put a bolt through so it can't spin.

    OP sell me those 870s

All gone bud! Between my Benelli, Sweet 16, and chopped coach gun an 870 or 500 will find no place in my home. Zero utility.

I actually do have an Marine 500 but it’s for my brothers boat. I tossed it in his safe and I’ll never see it again, I’m okay with that.

Bubba'd the hell out of a Mosin Nagant. Counter bored the barrel, then cut it. Tapped and mounted a scope. Put a Monte Carlo stock on it. Tried the soda can shim trigger job. Had the bolt turned down. It is now laying in parts. I doubt I'll ever touch it again.

I have a Remmy model 10 or 12 pump shotgun with a broken extractor spring. Made a couple but they broke and Numrich hasn't had any in stock for years...

I have a really old Walther PPK in parts. It was given to me and was found in a barn with surface rust. Slide would not move at first. Grips were gone also. I soaked the parts and frame in Kroil and a few zip locks. Never got back to it. Also found with it was an old Remington Pump 22 Model 11 or 12 and its the one with the Octagonal barrel. It is from early 1900's. That is mostly cleaned up and in parts packed away. I never will get back to them I dont think. The tube feed rod is gone from the pump 22 buck can buy them still.

My 30-06 Weatherby VGR. I trashed it when I rolled my 4wheeler down the mountain on my first bear hunt ever with me on it. It had a beautiful glossy blue and a classic Monte Carlo stock.
I always dreamed of putting one of their polymer stocks on it and having it parkerized.

Now it sits in the back of my safe with a 2" gouge on the barrel and a totally munged up stock. I can't even bring myself to pick it up.

I killed a lot of deer with that gun...:sad20:
