Where can I find a one stop shop to handle all my prerequisites for the DC ccw ? I don't want to have to go to Warrenton either.

I just submitted my application in DC. He seemed to think the 16 hours would be fine but there may be some questions about the shooting component of the Maryland training. Might have to submit a supplemental shooting qualification from a DC instructor.

DC requires a 50 round course of fire.

    MD requires 25 rounds.

DC won't accept the 25 round course of fire any longer

One of our Instructors will correct me if somthing changed , but traditionally it was 25rd * Minimum * . Back in the decade , always did 50rd course of fire .

IIRC DC was accepting 25 but changed their minds, as the statute specifies a 50 round "qualification course."

Stoveman recalls he did 25 and DC accepted it.

This is taken from the Law passed in 2014.

Can anyone describe the specifics of the 50 round course of fire they completed for the DC permit and/or provide a link to the same? DC’s description is vague and appears to leave much discretion.

    Thanks.

if you PM Cypherpunk, he is a DC certified instructor and can give you specifics. i can't find any definitive info. Instructors have to submit a training syllabus, so he should be better equipped to answer your question

Because it IS vague , and leaves much discretion.

Because each Instructor submits a sylibus , and COF , and if ( the certifying authorities) think either is inadaquate, they will let ( prospective Instructor) know .

    Same thing with Maryland .

The other reality is most COF will be basically similar , of equivalent difficulty, and not particularly hard.

Instructors don't want to make needless work for themselves . And if they had more than the very occasionally Failure to Qualify , their bread & butter clients would quickly switch to a different provider.

I can't describe the COF exactly, but it was something like:

    At 7 yds:
Draw, two to the body, one to head both hands.
    Repeat.
    Repeat with strong hand.
    Repeat with weak hand.

    At 15 yards:

    Same.
    Same.
    Same.
    Same.

Then there was a barrier put up at the bench which was a 2x6 to simulate cover.

    Various strings behind cover.

Then the last string was four rounds in the mag, shoot to the body until empty, the instructor hands you another mag, reload, shoot another 4-5.

    Were tops allowed?

    Stoveman:
I was going to use a Glock 19 MOS with a red dot top. Do you remember if that was allowed in the shooting portion, or was it to be with regular sights?

I don't know if red dots are allowed or not, might shoot a call or email to your instructor.

    I shot it with an H&K VP9.
