I had some questions I was hoping someone here might be able to answer. I have a p80 Glock 19, and a factory Glock 22 which I bought when I was living in PA. Now that I'm back, I have yet to get an HQL, but would like to make some upgrades to the Glocks I have. As I understand, Glock will take my old gen 2 frame and send me a gen 3 frame to replace it as a "maintenance" part for $75. As well, I found a serialized factory Glock 19 frame on the Glockstore site. From what I've read, in most states, you can send your old frame in and get the new one right back since it's considered maintenance, but in MD, it has to be shipped to an FFL. With the glock22, if it's maintenance, do I still need an HQL to receive the new frame? I was also wondering what the proccess would be for the g19 frame as on the FFL paperwork, there is an exemption for buying just the receiver like you would for an AR lower. Do these count as receivers, or would they be considered handguns and I need an HQL to purchase? Thanks.

If you send a gun to the manfacturer for repairs they can ship it back to you no FFL required. The FFL is for transfers. You already own the gun. You are not trasferring it.

Wrong. It depends on if the manufacturer sends a new frame with the original serial number. If it is a new serial number, the HQL required for frame question is something the ask an FFL. If it sends back a new frame with the original serial number, the records with MSP are still there saying it is a Gen1, Gen 2, Gen 3, Gen 4, etc... I'd still ask an FFL what they would do. It is their license and their asses on the line on a transfer.

    Ask a local FFL.
